I think the death of his father has released Tiger from some heavy emotional weight. The US Open was too soon after but just look Tiger since then. He is more focused than I think we have ever seen him. It could be his father 's ill health for the last few years directly contributed to his slump. Now that he has passed, Tiger is free to concentrate once again we are witnessing the results. We could be on the cusp of an historic run.

What do you guys think. Anyone had a similar experience that you could shed some illumination?

I think it had a lot more to do with working on his swing than anything else.

Tiger finished in the top five of every major last year. He won two. He nearly won the Masters this year. He won several events prior to the U.S. Open this year (Buick Inv. and Doral earlier this year on the PGA Tour, and the one in Dubai). His dad has been sick for awhile. But TW has been playing good golf for two years, now, too. He was player of the year last year, after all.

I think it may have held him back in the Masters and US open, time and focus were probably not at his usual level. I don't think he is playing better because it is over. Removed a minus but that doesn't make it a plus. Kind of fuzzy reasoning I hope it makes sense.

I really don't think it affected him as much as we think. I feel all of Tiger's swing changes and things have finally come full circle. He is truly a complete golfer right now. He is still a little wild off the tee at times, but for the most part, he just hits 3-woods and 5-woods. He has the total package right now, and he will probably win 8-10 times in the next calendar year. The Tiger of 1999-2000 was good, but the Tiger of 2006-2008 will be even better.

With age comes experience.

Like Erik said, his father had been ill for quite some time, and Tiger still managed to win a lot of tournaments.
