Iam beginning to get interested in learning to play golf. I have received conflicting advice about purchasing clubs among other things 1. Woman's vs mens clubs.....I am 5'11 should I be looking for clubs designed for women...I am wondering if they ...

Thank you,

I haven't been in the market for ladies clubs of late so I'm not sure about the availability of clubs with the length you may have to have. Go to a Pro or a good Pro Shop and be fitted with the right clubs for you. Do not try to do this on your own.......get help!

The fitter will look at your strength and swing style, as well as your 5' 11" frame. Women usually have longer legs and sometimes arms at a given height. There are many fine womens clubs out there, they differ from mens in that the have shorter shafts with flatter lies, weaker (more) loft, and usually lighter more flexible shafts. But all of these features can be obtained in mens clubs if you don't like the cosmetics on womens clubs. So don't let them insist on womens clubs if you don't feel they are right for you.

I'm not a teaching pro or close, but if it were my but when my daughter wanted to play I went to the local thrift store and found a great deal on a set of ladies clubs and a bag to match....the whole set up cost all of 30.00.......now you factor in if she doesn't stick with golf, so.....and I feel that in the beginning your just learning and refining your swing and such....why spend 3-400.00 on something that might change later with your swing in a yr or less.... now days everyone wants to have custom fitted stuff off the bat... and yet I bet most people out there in the 1st yr can't tell the difference and even those who have played the game for 10yrs still swing and play the same game the same, whether they bought fitted clubs or just 2nd hand ones....... so I say just look around and you will find a good starter set.....

ps....

    • I've been putting whilst looking at the hole and it's definitely helped my distance control
    • I wonder if that is why my home course basically have no stakes now.  Not even markers.  It’s completely up to golfers to remember what is OB and hazard and how things used to be marked.     Even in tournaments, there is no marking and certain areas are played differently by different golfers who either don’t know better or use it to their advantage funny reading thru this with courses that actually have markers
    • is it though?????? "Millions of fans"?????
    • Great post, thanks for the informaiton. I try to avoid adding salt to anything I eat. I tend to add pepper on to my meals as opposed to salt. And I am trying to eat as clean on possible. On golf day, I eat 3 eggs for breakfast (pepper NO salt) and a salad for lunch, with grilled chicken thigs (pepper, garlic, no salt). I have been trying to avoid processed food, but we all slip. I also should have mentioned that the electrolyte packet calls for mixing with 16 oz of water, however I mix in 32 oz of water, so I dilute the electrolyte powder.
    • So if I read the news correctly, the PIF will not fund LIV after this season.  LIV is trying to find new funding and a number of players there are now asking about getting back to the Tour.    I am very, very concerned that Taylor Gooch will not have a place where he can make a jackass out of himself soon
