Thinking of switching balls

I have played the Titleist Pro V1 since the 392 days and was thinking of switching to the Pro V1x, due to the fact that the Pro V1 just spins WAY too much and I can not control it like I used to...So my question is how much less does the ProV1x spin on short irons and wedges?

i've played the pro v1x for a while but i'm currently practicing my putting/chipping with the pro v1 so i don't throw away my good balls early in the season.
i use some 2007 pro v1 balls i found and they spin just a little more on chips and such. when i play the "one hop and stop" chip/pitch the ball spin a bit more.
I think the simplest way to explain it is: if i hit the shot i mentioned above and the ball lands in the same spot the prov1x will be 1/2 feet further ahead than the prov1.
On short iron shots it spins enough so that it lands and stops while on wedge shots it will spin back to its pitch mark.
I think the biggest advantage is the gain in distance off the tee and off my clubs, it's also more durable and easier to hit into the wind.

I like the V1x better than the V1, mostly because it's slightly harder and less spinny. Better control on the short game.

You could take a look at the Taylormade Penta TP, the new five layer golf ball. It has come out very well in reviews. On TST it was very similar to the performance of the V1x.

The Penta is plenty spinny. You might want to try a Z-Star X.

I haven't tried the Penta myself, but if Erik could pick it over the V1x, the spin should be fine.

Srixon sent over a few sleeves of their Tri-Speed tour ball..and I'm really digging it.. it's hot off of the face...the spin is ok... distance is great.... and the feel is pretty good... BUT it still feels diff when putting compared to my fave ball of last year: the One Tour.
TM sent over a sleeve of Pentas that I'm dying for the weather to get warmer so I can try them out...everyone that i've spoken to has given them great reviews.
