Ok I bought a Nike Str8 driver and used it for about 4 rounds, I would drive the ball passed the 150 by 20 yards straight. I cant keep it in the fairway now, at any positions. I hit my 3W, and 3I off the tee box and i may hit as far as my Driver short by 30 yards but it's straight. I can not think of anything different that I have done since I lost my drive except choking down on the shaft. When I had a great drive I was completely behind the ball and it worked everytime. I move anywhere and I may hit 2 out of 10 straight.

What do you want help with?

First of all, a better topic title would maybe attract more users. Secondly, without more information, we can't help you with much. We can throw out random suggestions, but chances are good that they'll just leave you more confused. A video would help.

Also, you haven't explained your ball flight. Is it high, low, hooking, slicing, are you hitting the ground, is the club draw biased or fade biased compared to your old driver?
You say you were behind the ball and hit it great, then you "move anywhere", and hit 2 out of 10 straight. What does behind the ball mean, what does "move anywhere" mean?

well to start off this is what works for me left foot 2 in. behind the ball ,hands forward and the ball would pass the 150 down the center everytime. I hve changed something and now the ball goes straight then hooks right really deep into the woods. When I try to aim a little more left to keep the ball in the fairway the shot goes straight but to the left side of the fairway almost out of bounds past the 150. I am using a nike str8 should I go back to neutral. The club is a 9 degree, I hit it the same a 10.5 it goes really high but past the 150 by 10-30 yards. The odd thing is I went back to my Callaway Sq. head 9 degree that I could not hit and I hit everyone straight. I am thinking maybe with the str8 I have gotten use to it and I am trying to kill it now???

Terminology is important here. In golf terminology, a ball that starts straight and then veers hard right is called a slice. Don't feel bad. I golfed for six years til I got the defiinition.

Must be a zillion pages on Google on how to fix a slice. Probably a few hundred topics on this forum too. Ask the right question and these guys will have answers. Not me. I slice too.

Good luck!

your version of "really high" is probably different to the rest of us.
You need more loft on your driver I think.
It´s a 9 degree and you only hit it what? 160-170 yards on average?

Did you get the club custom fitting?
You should be hitting it over 200 yards.
get custom fitted if you havn´t already, you´ll be amazed by the results.

Thanks, I will check that out, it's a 9 degree which should stay lower then my 10.5 but it goes just as high, as far as distant I hit the ball 250 + on all my drives, I may just leave the driver alone for awhile since I hit my 3 Iron 230, or maybe even use my 3 Wood that I hit just as far if not further.

Wow i'm confused on this thread??? First couple posts you drive the balls 170 yards on your drives now you drive it 250+

Get your story straight then we can try to help. Without seeing your swing its tough to give advice.

I'm not sure I understand the OP's problem but it sounds like he switched drivers and can't figure out why the swing that worked with his old club doesn't work for the new? Some of my initial thoughts:

1.) The golf swing is fleeting and one size doesn't fit all. What you're experiencing is why you see some touring pros play the same clubs year after year despite advances in technology. Sometimes you just find something that works for you and you just shouldn't rush to change it.

2.) All clubhead/shaft combinations are different and chances are that you've unconciously adapted your swing to the old driver. Without knowing specifics, I'd say that the Nike shaft is probably less stiff than the Callaway and that's causing your snap hook (all else equal within your swing and clubhead bias). Either have yourself fitted to figure out what clubhead/shaft flex works for you or go back to the old driver. For a really cheap (albeit less guaranteed) fix just try to hit a monster cut with the Nike until you get the feel for how much you need to release your hands with the new club. Like others have mentioned, it's impossible to give real suggestions without seeing your swing and/or more detail.

3.) If you can consistently hit a 3 iron 230 yards and a 3 wood 250, then I'm guessing you should be skilled enough to know how to tweak your swing to make corrections in ball flight. Head to the range and spend some quality time figuring out the new club.

Ok I bought a Nike Str8 driver and used it for about 4 rounds,

I think this is the key point people are struggling with , screamin chicken. How long is the hole you're on? Hitting

past the 150 yard marker is relative - how long is that off the tee? I suspect you're talking about approximately 275 yard drives that were straight at first, but are now wild. It's called the honeymoon phase of new club ownership. Been there - get a lesson - and/or a new driver shaft. Or post a video and people can offer opinions on the problem.

I said I had a problem with my drive, meaning I had a slice, and a hook 2 out of 10 will go straight 20 yards past the 150. I used to drive like this everytime. Someone made the comment that I shlould hit it farther then 170-200 yards. I never said I hit my 3 W 230 yards but I can get it around 200. Anyways thats not what I ned help with.
I think I will to rotate my hands a little right, put the ball in the middle of my stance, then spread my feet shoulder width apart to get my center of gravity correct. Right now my left foot is 3 in. behind the ball, and my whole body is also behind the ball. My hands are foreward in front of my left leg, this work for about 5-6 games with my drive going to the 150 straight, and now it's not. I must have changed something or I am swingging way to hard on my down swing.

    • I've used this for planning, good information about courses, regions, transport, and lodging. Amazon.com  I prefer to stay in B&Bs, and have enjoyed playing many non-famous courses.  Hiring a car for many weeks is likely to be pretty expensive, but train travel is possible between regions.  I don't know about taxis for getting to courses, but that might be cheaper than hiring a car.  I certainly recommend staying in St Andrews for a while, there are 6 courses within the St Andrews Trust, and a shuttle will take you from one to the other, not including the Castle Course.  Beyond that, there are a dozen or more good courses within an hours drive, including Carnoustie and Kingsbarns and a bunch of lesser-known but fabulous courses.   Good luck, Scotland is a fabulous place!
    • I am looking to do a solo trip to Scotland, maybe 3 to 4 weeks, not golf every day but see some of the country in between. Looking more for convenience of travel to courses  than any particular courses. Any help on  best location, courses, accommodations appreciated.

    • Yeah, I saw that. I'm assuming that will be considered desicration of the course or something and whatever consequences. It should.
