A few years ago I picked up a set of wedges (thrift shop or rummage sale) and I'm trying to find the specs on them.

Mizuno TC29 is on the club heads, on the soles one has an F, one an S, and the third one has a P with a small u next to the P.

Web searching with my phone browser I haven't found much except that these are probably from 1995 or so. I'd like to know what the loft angles are on them and what the F S and Pu stand for. I assume the S wedge is a sand wedge, and it appears to have some bounce (but not as much as my Hogan Special 60 does).

I'm just getting back into the game and am restuffing my bag and would like to put some of these to use. I really like my Hogan sand wedge but am wondering if one of these Mizunos could replace it. In any case I'll have to get out to a range and see how they hit and what distances I get from them.

Thanks for any input or opinions on these wedges.

I'm going to go to the range probably this weekend and see how these hit. I also came across a Titleist Vokey steel shaft wedge at a local thrift shop (for $1.99 I had to get it). Spin Milled 56.10, which I assume is 10deg of bounce, doesn't look like a sand wedge but maybe it is.

Not sure yet what will end up in my bag, but some range time should help the decision process.

The F is a gap wedge. Do not remember the specs. Actually I am looking for those 3 wedges if you want to sell them.

I got out to a grass range today at lunch (much nicer than mats and rubber tees). Must have been a slow day because an instructor who teaches there came over and gave me a short lesson to get a few things working better with my swing.

Anyway, the TC29's are okay, but I liked and hit the Vokey better.

PM on the way.

Followup in case anyone was curious of what I've learned about these wedges. I snagged them back from a relative who "borrowed" them from me and took them down to a local shop to get the lofts measured.

The P(u) wedge measures to 47*,
The F wedge measures to 51*,
And the S wedge measures to 55*.

And just for comparison I had them measure my old TourEdge Bazooka 9 iron which came in at 40*. I didn't get a pitching wedge when I got the Bazookas (bought them used). Looks like I've got a monster gap if the TC29's make it back to my bag. And even with my Hogans and sole Vokey I'd still have a wide gap to adjust/choke to.

Oh well, back to rebuilding my swing and working on my consistency. New clubs will have to wait, but at least now I have a better idea of what I'm working with.
