Well it's not Boris Becker!

I think a lot of pros play their own sticks - they just try and be careful about showing off (headcovers, etc.)

Yeah... truthfully, I didn't even know Bridgestone MADE clubs. I only knew about the balls. But... on the Bridgestone Golf website... Fred's profile says he'll be playing the B330 ball and using the J38 Dual Pocket Cavity Irons... nothing about the driver. I was reading something the other day (or I saw it on TV... I don't remember) and it was a professional who said that he would NEVER have an exclusivity clause in his contract because he needed the freedom to be comfortable with what he plays. I believe he was specifically talking about his driver, fairway woods and putter... because the contract he was talking about was with the company that supplied his irons.

So... I'm sure Fred Couples has a similar 'out' in his contract.

This sems to be common, Harrington using an R9 driver with Wilson Head Cover, Poulter uses a Titleist 3W and 2x Hybrids but has the Cobra Head Covers on them, now Freddy with an R9 with a Bridgestone headcover, not sure why they do this as most people can se what the clubs are when they use them so what is the point of hiding it?

First off, Titleist and Cobra were the same company, so it really didn't matter for Poulter. Secondly, everyone does it. Tiger has a Nike headcover on his Titleist putter. Allenby, Clark, Furyk, and almost every other Srixon player uses non-Srixon/Cleveland woods, but with Srixon headcovers. Most companies only really care about the irons the player uses, and in some cases the ball. Tiger's only contractual obligation, if I remember correctly, is the Nike ball.

What we need to remember is that none of it really matters that much. What they use is public knowledge, and is kept track of via the Darrell survey. What clubs a player uses can be quickly looked up online, and many have videos at the PGA tour website of what's in their bag. The bottom line is, however, that any clubs they use are going to be meticulously custom shafted, gripped, swingweighted, ground, and loft and lie fitted to their exact swing, so they could use anything and still play well.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
