Hello,

I am a fairly tall guy 6'3-6'4. I have irons that were built to be +1.25 inches and they seem to work well for me. I've had them quite a long time. So I was just reading that your sand wedge, lob wedge, and gap wedge should be the same length as the PW in your set.

I play with a stock Vokey 60, a Cleveland 56 degree, and a Vokey 52, all of which are shorter than my PW. My wedges have always felt short and I'm thinking this could be having an effect on my wedge game.

Based on this info, do I need to extend the length of my wedges or build some new ones, or do you think this wouldn't make that much of a difference?

Should all of my wedges be the same length as my PW in my set?

Thanks.

If you 'feel' that your wedges are too short they probably are. As for all your wedges being the same length, yeah sounds about right. It all really depends of the lie of your wedges. Trawl through the internet and make sure they all have the same lie, if so, they should all be the same length. A jump of over an inch from your PW (I guess that is part of your 'set') to your 52 is a big jump. Unfortunately shaft length is not something that you can easily try out but I would recommend maybe finding an old wedge and having that lengthened and see if you feel more comfortable with it.

My set is built 1" over, and I recently had extensions put in my wedges. It was the greatest choice ever. I had trouble staying in my stance for full swings as the standard length was so short relative to the rest of my set. Now I'm a sniper from 100 in.

Add extensions (or reshaft of you think it matters, mine are fine). You will be glad you did.

The advice I got was to have them fitted.

I recently purchase a set of Nickent wedges, 50, 54, 58. The 50 is an inch shorter than my current TM Burner AW (50), my Burner Plus irons are all + 1/2". I am looking to replace the Burner wedge with the Nickent, but I too am concerned about the big difference in length. I need to find the time to go down and have them fitted. I expect at the least to have the wedges lengthened by 1/2". I may extend them myself and then have the lie adjusted.
