I am very interested in the program First Tee, and have considered donating my time (since I seem to have more of that than I do extra time) Does anybody donate time to the event, if so what do they do for the first tee? I am an amatuer club builder and could assist by shortening donation clubs for people (as well as some basic repairs) I would like to help in anyway possible. I am not a teacher as I have not mastered the game enough to help out on that front.

I have no criminal record, or anything in my background (I Know they run a background check) that would exclude me from any activities. Does anybody have any insight, advice, or just thoughts about the first tee program?

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

It's a great program all around. Good people anywhere you go. They have good intentions and are as nice as can be. I'm involved with a couple things in the first tee program, but not a whole lot. My friends volunteer for the first tee program sometimes, and you don't really need to know anything about golf to volunteer. Other people are volunteering there to help out with the golf advice. What you can do is just walk around and see if anyone needs help. You can help with the setup of the occasion, or running errands for the coordinators. You might even be able to hit a few balls while you're out there ;). It's a great program and I love to see all the little kids out there playing golf and learning life lessons. You should contact the coordinator for the First Tee events and practices in your area (if you know who they are), and talk to them to see what you can do to help out. Have fun! ~RHPM

I work for the government and we have to do so many hours of volunteer work plus it looks better when you're up for a promotion. I do most of my volunteer work at the first tee in baltimore and it's a neat experience. I walk around help kids with their chipping and putting since I think it's where I can contribute the most. Honestly though we have some people who just show up and talk with the kids about what kind of path they are going down. It's really awesome because it goes far beyond just golf and once you get to hear some of the kids stories you will want to do more.

I have looked into it, and what they want is adults who care about kids and know a little about golf. First Tee needs several skill categories, and I think you could really help them.
