Currently I am playing an Adams 9.5 Speedline with the stock Grafalloy 60g stiff shaft and fight a duck hook. Part of the issue is my mechanics while hitting the driver are not as good as other clubs. The driver is longer and has a larger head which makes it tougher for me to swing it on plane and hit the center of the face.

My question is would a heavier shaft allow me to swing the club more efficiently?

Currently I don't even pull out the driver except for two or three holes at my home course because I simply do not know where the ball is going. With that said my swing is not a bad looking swing at all, even with the driver. I can hit anything with a steel shaft straight consistently however I can be 40 yards left or right with distance ranging from 150 yards to upwards of the magical 300 mark :).

If your other clubs are working OK, you might try a lesson and/or a driver fitting.

If I remember right, you're a former baseball player. Might be an element of "swinging for the fences" when you touch a driver.
