Played my first full 18 of the year yesterday. Didn't do well off the tee or with my long irons, but the majority of my short game had improved from last year. Considering that I practiced my short game throughout the winter I was pleased with the slight improvement.

However, my loathing for trees was once again kindled. Being erratic off the tees, I find myself contending with trees on my second shot far more often than I would like. I have two funny experiences from the game involving trees.

The first was one of my (many) shots from the right side of the fairway. Considering the layout of the fairway I decided to shoot parallel to the fairway rather than spend an entire stroke getting onto the fairway. I hit a decent 7-iron and the ball struck the sole low-lying branch on a tree 20-feet in front of me, ricocheted to the right, hit something (presumably a rock) and bounced back toward me. Since I was hitting slightly uphill, I stood and watched as the ball slowly rolled back to me and stopped not four feet from it's original resting position. sigh

The second incident wasn't my shot, but quite funny. A faster group behind us caught up to us and we let them play through. They were playing the tips and we stood to the side behind a tree line while they teed off. The first guy duffed his shot. The second guy also duffed his shot too but it was low and straight for the tree line. It went straight into a tree near were we were standing (about 100ft from where he was), hit the tree dead on, and bounced back toward him. It missed him by 20 feet, but ended behind where he teed off. There was much (good natured) laughter by all. Truly a rare shot.

Cut this ( Driver.............

Insight XTD a3 10.5* ) down to 44 to 44.5 inches, and you will enjoy walking pass the tree and not playing in them, hehe

When I got it I measured it at 45" on my own. However, prompted by this, I took it into the PGA Superstore where it was measured at 46" plus a quarter inch for grip. Whoops.

I asked them to cut it down to 44.5". When I get it back Saturday I hope I'll see some improvement.
