The chicken wing causes my....

slice? I have noticed that on my follow through after impact i tend to bend the left arm and chicken wing it. The right arm is still extended however. Im a bit erratic atm and hitting slices, as well as decent hooks. Just interested in some thoughts on the chicken wing affecting the swing?

It is very common among slicers. It usually comes from a poor pivot, over the top move and/or poor extension through impact.

Check to see if you have those things, or post a swing video.

Are you deliberately trying to avoiding releasing the clubface through impact?

Unless this is the case, perhaps try and feel your right hand and forearm overtaking your left on your follow through.

after a little more self analysis (the v1 iphone app doesnt allow me to upload the video) i think it may have been due to the fact i wasn't rotating through with my body. Not much hip rotation and swinging through with the arms.

That will cause it for sure. IMO, Rotating your forearms will just be a band-aid to a larger swing problem.

It's pretty hard to have a chicken wing if you don't go over the top and have a good pivot and rotation through the ball.

You should be able to export videos from the v1 app to your photo library or email it out to yourself so that you can upload it onto some other site that is compatible to be posted on this forum.

Westwood has a busted left wing at impact but can still control the face. The left arm will bend because the pivot is slow or the right arm isn't working well to create width.

my guess would be your left arm isn't working down enough

Please don't try that. Try this drill instead (it works for a few things, but it will demonstrate if you do it properly that you can hit a draw with an open face):

Westwood has a busted left wing at impact but can still control the face. The left arm will bend because the pivot is slow or the right arm isn't working well to create width.

Lee's impact position is a great example of how talented PGA Tour pros can be.

in regards to the chicken wing. i understand it to be the left arm bending preventing the proper release of the club. now my left arm is tending to bend after release, however it seems both my left and right arm straighten before impact. i will try to upload the v1 video.
