When getting my clubs re-gripped the other day the guy who took them at Golf Galaxy made a comment about my hybrid loft.

To preface, I play a 22 degree hybrid and my lowest iron is a 5 iron. My gaps for the two clubs seem to be pretty close. I hit the hybrid 200-215 and the 5i 190-200 (all depends on how crisp of a shot I hit).

He said that to replace my 4 iron I should have went with a 5 hybrid which would give me a better distance gap. Anyone here of this?

sounds odd to me. Some folks will hit a 5H (usually ~27*) a little longer than a 5i likely due to higher trajectory, but not by that much...that's why the arbitrary number on the hybrids (to match an iron equivalent). Your iron to hybrid gap seems ok with what you're using so i wouldn't worry about it.
Hmm...maybe he meant you should have gotten a 4H (the TM Burner 22* is the "3H" right?) as you don't have a 4-anything in your bag. If you hit your 5W a similar distance to your 3H that might be a reason to change or consolidate clubs.

I would say if your gaps are good for you, then who cares what the lofts are? There is no "standard" set anymore.... the gaps may be better for one person with those same clubs that others. Just go with what you're comfortable with

Wrong, the 22 is the 4H.

Actually my 5 wood and 4 hybrid are closer to each other than my 5i and the hybrid.

That's why it aggravates me so bad that I have to play around with everything on my own when it comes to adjusting things on my clubs because these guys "strongly advise" not making changes to clubs.

For example, this same guy told me it was lutacris to chop down a 45.5" driver down to 44.5" even though I am a weak 5-8"! He would only LET me get it cut in .5" increments, telling me that I'd never like the driver at 44.5".

The same guys who also say my clubs are "fine" for length and lie since I choke up already and they are only "a tad" bit flat! Why can't they just do what I want them to do?
