you dont think he still takes violent lashes at the ball? i think he does, and the problem is that he doesnt make efficient contact. hes swinging just as hard, but not hitting the ball as hard.

Its true with many golfers. Tigers younger swing was explosive and violent. You cant keep that up forever. Perhaps he can go back to some of the positions he had when he was younger, but he is never going to swing like he was in the video at his age.

The guy's 34 and a top athlete. He could still swing like that. He may not want to - and right now I'd argue that he can't with the swing he's got - but he's capable.

+1

I think he swings harder now...with many more moving peices and f'ed up positions at the top..it's really awful and the results show (not even talking about his scores...damn, some of his drives are downright funny). His old swing looked like a wider and smoother arc, he looked like a golf ball whacking machine.

i dont think that driver shot over the trees was pre haney. I think I remember that being in 2005 where he beat mickelson on the last hole at doral? or was it at the Honda or something.

That's definitely 2005 at Doral, the tee shot on #16, at about the 1:55 mark, and with Haney as coach. I think it was the 3rd round, not when he was paired with Phil in the 4th round.

Tiger's follow through used to be so natural. That's what strikes me whenever I watch a before and after. Also, Tiger may be 34 but he's a bulky 34, and less explosive than he should be at that age. Johnny Miller wrote a book 6 years ago in which he emphasized Tiger was older than his birth certificate implies in golfing terms, closer to 31 than 28.
