You can just cut your stock shaft down, there is no reason to buy another shaft.

You can cut off the shaft 1" and then regrip it. My advice is take it to a clubmaker and your area and have him do it. If you grip is in good shape ,they can re-install the same grip most of the time. I am sure someone in this forum can give you a name of a clubmaker near you, Post where you live and I will find one for you if you want.

I cut an inch off of my driver and am now hitting 72% of my fairways. Was hitting 29% before. Now that I can make center face contact more consistently I can hit it further.

You have to remember that for each .5" that you cut off you will lose 3 swing weight points if you retain the same grip. To get those back you can either put weight in the head or get a lighter grip. I cut of 1" and added a winn lite to get back to about the same sw.

huh?
You mean itll feel different? or i dunno what swing weight is

I cut mine down from 45.75 to 44.75. It kind of depends on you. It may feel different to you or it may not feel different.

Um i dunno it was just when i was getting a lesson i didnt have my driver so i used his
All i know it was an R9 with half degree open? so probably a TP one.
It definitely felt nicer too
ANd i golfed 3 rounds with an old SQ which felt shorter than mine and wow the difference is WELL worth it.

I agree. I cut my Dymo 2 down to 44.75" from 45.75". I was hitting 29% of my fairways. Now I am hitting 72% of my fairways with no distance loss.

I have to get all my clubs cut down being I am 5' 4". Most of the time the cost is $2.99 to cut the club down, $3.99 to re-grip + the cost of the grip. Anywhere from $5 to $10 normally depending on what you use. So about $12-$17 per club total.
Also I was always told that cutting your shaft down makes the shaft stiffer. I tend to use real flexy shafts so taking a little out was not a concern for me.
But if you use a stiffer shaft already it could become too stiff for your swing speed.

A shorter driver shaft will be a bit stiffer and 6-8 swing weights lighter. Will be more difficult to load the shaft for impact. But if you hit the fairway three times more often, remember straight is long.

That is a pretty blanket statement. It all depends on how much is cut off and where it is cut from. A couple of inches isn't going to noticeable affect the stiffness. The general rule for sw is 3 points for each .5".
