my swing is feeling ok lately.

the only thing that doesnt always feel good is my lower back. i have played a lot of baseball in my life and that is reflected in my golf swing.

in my downswing, my hips move forward and do not turn very easily, and i lunge down at the ball a bit. i end up in a reverse C position, sometimes violently.

now i am trying to figure this out. thoughts?

If you make a post like this without video, you're almost better off not having made a post at all.

Do you have any good quality video?

This is something i fight with, because my swing has a fast tempo, especially my hips. I played so many years with a reverse C. Last year i made an effort to change that. The drill i got that helped me out was only make swings with your left hand, and place your right foot on its toe behind you a bit. This will get your weight majority on your front foot. Its a good chipping drill, but it works to get you the feeling of getting to your left side at finish.

I came to golf from baseball too, and its hard to resist that instinct to stay back and swing off the back leg like we were taught to do in baseball. Im not going to lie, it took me more than a year of doing drills to get it out. I did a couple drills that might help. Swinging a club with the legs squeezed together helped to get the feel of hip rotation. I did a right hand only drill were i tee'd up a ball with an iron and swung back and then down and through it, making sure my belly faced what i was aiming at. There are many more, a teaching pro might be a big help. Just make sure he or she doesnt interfere with your instinct to hit the ball, which is an avantage that baseball players have over golfers that didnt play. I think it helps us take to the game quicker.

But the two swings are not that much different. You cleared your hips in baseball to help the bat stay in the zone longer, the basic principle in golf is the same. Instead of staying back, you just go forward with it. Like your lunging at a off speed pitch or something.
