I struggled all day today with my driver. I just kept slicing the ball most of the day. Once or twice in a round, but today was horrible. I just couldn't release the club, I always had my right palm up through the ball. I have a three day weekend and this is not how i wanted to start it off with, a 96!

It's okay, we all have those kind of days.

What's important is to put that round behind you and focus on doing better for the next round.

So, did the ball start right and continue to turn, or did it start straight or left, then turn right?

if theres a evil club for me it's my driver. I've got to keep that club in play in order for me to have decent round. Im fighting this one club way to much. maybe playing the ball to back in my stance causing me to leave the club open and causing the slick...guess we'll find tomorrow with results...

Back of the stance would result in a hook most of the time. It sounds to me like an over the top move. 99% of slices occur with the face closed or square, not open. If the face is open, the ball starts dead right, and turns even farther right. It's

very rare to actually push-fade a driver badly, and at an 18 handicap, the over the top slice is very common. Add:

That's most definitely an over the top slice. It's literally

impossible for the ball to start straight and turn right with an in to out or even a straight club path. An open club with a straight path is going to start the ball to the right. In your case, the face is probably square, or slightly left, but the path is well out to in to cause it to curve so hard right.

    • Day 159 1-19 Flow drill while attempting to add arch in wrist on downswing. Not where it needs to be but felt good working on swing flow.
    • Day 1 (19 Jan 26) - after a week lay-off due to travels, felt great to get in some drills in the backyard today.  Started with lead arm only short pitches focused on squared face and light divot post ball.  Haven’t done this in a while and it showed, with some skulls and slices.  Settled into easy flighted balls - wrapped up with standard two handed swings.  Good restart to the daily drills.
    • That depends what you do within those two.  Are they your only options?   Check out Fit for Golf if you get a moment.  It's linked on the sidebar;  I did it for two years, stopped for a really bad reason, and I plan to get back to it soon.   Mike Carroll also has a great free podcast about a lot of topics in golf fitness.
    • Day 19, 1/19.  Finished work in time to spend 25 minutes hitting balls (hit 15) indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Usual focus.
    • Day 30 - 2026-01-19 Got 10 minutes in on the mat / net working on exagerrating movements I'm working on. And grip. Also worked with my friendly AI to summarize key negative tendencies I have so that I can build a personal checklist to follow. Will do more mirror work tonight.
