Hey guys, here is my swing. I have only been playing seriously for a few about a month now. I think i found a major flaw, i am pulling my club head in to far on the up swing. I have a wicked slice and trying to figure out why. Please help. I would love to hit 800 yds and hit 100% of the fairways, but at this point even hitting 180yds and 50% would make my day . Thanks in advance guys.

you don't transfer your weight to your left side. your not getting any power behind the ball falling back like that.

get your weight towards your target!!!

First things first, you are pulling across the ball from the top. Your first move from the top shouldn't be a pull with the shoulders and arm, but a dropping of the hands to the inside... this will take some time to feel. For now, line up all of your balls with the logo at the 7 pm position (12 front, 6 back, being the target line). Visualize hitting the ball from the inside, at the 7 pm position.

Next, your finish is about 30% of what it should be. Look at the swing sequence of your favorite tour pro and watch where his hips, shoulders and weight end up, then watch your video again.

Thanks guys. i downloaded a free analyzer software and was able to determine that my swing plane is way off. I go up on a decent plane, but come down about 12" higher at the top, and my hands are about 4" above original address. I also determined i was standing to far away from the ball, hunching over to much, which resulted in a natural movement up when i got to the top of the back swing, resulting in a huge plane shift up. Also possibly making the after impact swing look the way it does. It never felt natural or fluid to me when i tried to go around more. My body would feel real tense. I did some practice swings last night just getting more vertical and it feels completely different.

No he's not.

His clubhead is fairly well inline at P6 and his shoulders are still closed to square from P6 to P7. He's not wide open like a lot of golfers and he's definitely NOT got a big over-the-top move. His downswing is reasonably well on plane. OP: the weight transfer forward (by pushing the hips forward and tucking your ass under you) is what you'll want to work on next.

Iacas is right, I stand corrected. The camera angle made that move a bit deceiving.

Ummmmm one thing....

your standing really really really far away from the ball!!

not sure what's the correct way to fix this, I'd tell you to stand up straighter but I might mess up your swing so I'll let somebody else help

i thought you were suppose to keep your weight on the right leg on drives and left leg on chips? Im still new and learning.

Also, no width to the swing. The arc needs to be wide, the hands should stay far away from the body on the backswing and followthrough.

you shift your weight with the driver.

you keep it on the left for chipping (you don't have to but it helps prevent skulls)

WOW! You are good. Please forget the phrase "major flaw". How have you learned to hit any ball--in your whole life. Figure out what the clubhead needs to be doing thru impact and then do it. Hit the home run dude. GDIB

Bloody hell. Your downswing already looks better than mine. Sigh..lesson time.

Weight shift, man. Don't hang back, swing through the ball.

Thanks alot. I will start to work on it. Like i said in a previous post the follow thorugh did not come natural so i am working on it, the same goes for the weight shift. It just feels awkward. I am seeing a pro for a lesson today, so hopefully he can walk me through the proper motions then i will have a feel for how its supposed to be and work from there.

Ummmmm one thing....

That is the forst thing i noticed when i saw this. I went home and hit a ton of the practice balls i have in a much more upright position and it felt much better. I think i was coming so off plane because i would try to make my spine more vertical in order to ease the twisting motion of my upper body. I played 18 yesterday and did a little better off the tee. Not perfect by no means. I also tryed to square my shoulders to my target more. It did not cure the slice 100%, but it brought it to a point yesterday were I was able to work with it more.

Thanks for the help guys. I will post a new video soon, after I take my lesson today.

well, my lesson seemed rewarding. I worked on my slice with the driver with him and like when you bring your car to a mechanic and the problem disappears, the first few i felt embarrassed. They were straight and long. Then i hit one good slice. We reviewed it in the computer and found i did not have a good follow through. my right foot was planted and my club was vertical. I worked on the follow through and hit them almost perfect. Then he transitioned me though my irons and wedges. I was way off on what i thought was the right aiming point. He basically hit me through a mock hole with out the putting, to see if i can go from swinging a chip shot, then off to a full swing (w/backswing) driver or iron. I was not able to that good. I have something to work on. He also said i was not putting the tee high enough for the driver. All in all, a productive lesson.
