At the moment my official handicap is 28.

I don't want to enter a tournament because I'd shoot in the net 50's. Is there any other way to get my handicap down instead of entering a club tournament?

No, you can register any round of golf for handicap adjustment.

Gotcha! Just play golf and enter your scores. That's what I do. Doesn't need to be a tournament.

In the UK and other countries that use the R&A; handicap system, only tournament scores count against a player's index. Judging from your location, though, that's neither here nor there.

We use the R&A;, but we can register any round counting on the handicap. The tournament only is a British (or country specific) thing, which is stupid. Some players never play tournaments, some play perhaps 3-5 a year. How long would that take to get below 10 handicap?
