Just got fitted for the AP1's and 2's. I selected the AP1's in 4-7 iron, and AP2 in 8-P. Anyone else try this kind of combination before with any other clubs?

No. It sounds like it would work though.

I have the AP1s and wish I had bought the AP2s.
I think after a few rounds you will wish you had bought all AP2s.

Guy I play with has done something similar with AP 1's and 2's and is happy with it, and I know others that have done similar combos with various brands. Getting fitted is what you should have the most confidence in.

I got fitted for them just his last wednesday, with the Trackman system. Out of everything, the AP1's were the best, most forgiving for me. Keep in mind that I was playing complete blades that I was also fitted for a year ago, but that went south, and I lost all confidence in my irons.

For a long time, club mfgrs have let you mix models and sets. In 2005, Titleist put out the 735.CM irons as an

already blended set.
From Titleist online archives... Titleist Unveils First Blended Iron Set With Introduction of New Forged 735.CM Irons. Combine benefits of cavity back long irons, shallow cavity mid irons and muscle back short irons in one set for optimum performance

Here's the Titleist 735 web link:

http://www.titleist.com/news/newsdet...y=media_center Ping does this also. Around 2001, several of the better players at my home course got mixed sets of Ping I3: Oversized 3i - 6i | blade 7i and up.
