for those of you who have re-shafted one of these heads, can you please help me answer a question:

1. what effect did the borethrough have on the new shaft's flex?
What I mean - does a regular shaft now become closer to a Stiff when installed at full borethrough lenght of 4"

my project

found my old Titleist 905T in the basement, pulled it up and wow is this thing mint
400cc head, traditional pear shaped, gray metallic finish and meant for higher launch w low spin
combined w a decent shaft, this rig could be sweet and for cheap
Also looking to try out a much lighter shaft
my thoughts behind a lighter shaft and smaller head - easier workability, easier to get hands turned over at impact and reduces big old fades and to create a faster clubhead speed, which should = more distance

thinking of installing a Aldila NV 55 S or a Aldila NV 65 R - depening on how the install of the borethrough will affect the flex of the shaft
the Aldila ebay store has these shafts on for like $17....and yes....im gonna put the PINK one in!!!! hahahah!
yep im man enough...r u ? hahah!

I have heard that essentially it is the same as tipping a new shaft 1" which will increase the shaft's stiffness by measure of one flex - EX - regular becomes Stiff, Stiff becomes X-Stiff etc..

thoughts and ideas on both my project and most importantly the effects of a borethrough on the shafts overall stiffness

I have no clue about the effect of borethrough on a new shaft. I love the idea of the project though not to mention the Pink shaft, I hope you do it cus I think it would be sick. I'd game it for sure.

nice

if i can hit this set up, i cant wait to pull up to the tee w a pink shaft, bright white grip and BOMB it past all the loudmouths in our club

ok, so i did some more research
a bore through doesnt have to increase the stiffness of a shaft, if you use a blind bore method
most builders will do this no problem (if they are good)

so, I picked up an Aldila 55 Stiff NV PINK Shaft
the plan is to insert it to 2.25" instead of the reccomended 1.75" and blind bore the remainder
this will stiffen it about 1/2 a flex, as i am between the X and Stiff shaft anyways, this will work great i think

going w a much lighter shaft than normal (its actually 58gm not 55) so it should help increase my SS slightly and the smaller cc head is so nice its not even funny
it will get gripped up w a bright white Tacki Mac Itomic Grip & measure @ 44.5" as well
this thing will look sick and should perform well too
a far cry from anything i have every played

high launch low spin head w a low spin/mid launch shaft - should be a great combo for me
and if not, im sure someone will enjoy it!!!! hahahah!!!

this is going to be a fun combo i think.....stay tuned
cant wait to see the look on dudes face when i pull it out of the bag and then BOOM IT over the mountains behind the first tee!!! ;)

the mailman couldnt get here any quicker

my bag just got swtiched up again "a ho-ing we will go, a ho-ing we will go!" hahahha!!!!

Enis - I believe you've officially contracted Upgraditis. Unfortunately, the only treatment is to send the CG1s and your new 905 driver (once girly shafted) to Omaha Nebraska and get lot's of bedrest. Get well soon.

Booom! POW! (eagles screeching and jet's flying.) No man, no mountains out here. I just moved here from Oregon, we can find a few over there.

On a more serious note, let me know what you think once that driver is built. One of my favorite old clubs was a Titleist 975D with a UST low torque 65g shaft. The thing was so pure feeling. I've wondered how the newer 905/907 stuff hit.

not many 905T's around... I'd buy one in a heartbeat if I could switch in the right shaft first try...

well i am sad to report that this project will not be going ahead
the shaft isnt going to be here until late next week, I sold my B'Stone and it has to ship by the end of the week
i have a round booked at a Private Course that i have never played this weekend and a tourney next week too
SO.....I need a driver in the meantime

I did some research and was fitted for a Graffaloy PL AXIS Red S (inserted at full borethrough) 60g
still a lighter shaft, low spin, low launch combined w the higher launch 905T head
still think this will be a good combo!

currently being installed and will be gaming it tomorrow

stay tuned for a review and pics of this BOMBER!@!!!

bummer... I have the Graffaloy PL S Red in my 975J... it's a very light shaft with a good launch angle... I hope it works for you this shaft is also very similar to the Diamana Blueboard 65 S

Cheers, Allan

here's the link to it

http://www.grafalloy.com/newsite/ind...le&id;=14&j;=pro looks like the torque ratings are a bit higher (3.0 vs 3.8) and little different shaft materials? i was reading that the AXIS is like the "budget friendly" WB.... we will see i guess looks wicked in real life
