Thank you! It's an honour to be invited. I'm really excited!
Over the coming years, it will help increase the quality of our academics.
And of course, I can't wait for a whole conference of cold weather hard-nosed football teams.

Better to have this in the OT forum... but I'm excited to see the Badgers steamroll another team after 2011 or whenever they'll actually manage to fit schedules in... probably by 2014. ;)

I don't understand how that will be possible when schedules are generally planned some years ahead. The Badgers have their 2012 conference schedule already planned out (granted with some TBAs).

Because we are the big ten, we can say screw it we will reschedule. Tickets haven't been printed yet. I remember one team dropped out right before september for a big time school, cant remember who, but they called up some small school and said we need you to play. So its not like these things are etched in stone...

TBA, the best out ever, To be Announced

Not to mention the Badgers... Why do we have 3 red/white or red/gray teams now? Ah well, Badgers are the only team with cardinal red as their color... I think. :P

You've got OSU's scarlet/gray, Badgers' cardinal/white, and Nebraska's scarlet/cream. Looks like we are the only one with that color. ;)

PSU thought the same thing when we came into the Big 10 back in the mid 90's...if you Husker fans really think your be very competative in the Big 10 anytime soon..your sadly mistaken.....they'll be at best a mid of the pack team..OSU, Iowa and Penn St are the cream of the crop and will be for several season......even Michigan has taken a step backwards.......but Neb joining is a good thing for the conference as a whole imho

Umm, actually in the final BCS standings for this year there are 3 Big Ten teams above Nebraska, which puts them in the middle of the pack.

If you don't believe me, http://www.collegefootballpoll.com/bcs_standings.html . And why would whoever started this thread put it in Golf Talk? There is a separate place set aside for sports threads.

    • Day 27 - 2026-01-16 Played 18 with some of the usual "too many voices" going on when I'm working on swing stuff. Fun to get out in great bay area winter weather.
    • I know one recent college grad who's trying the same thing.  This guy was a Division III All-American, went on to play one year at Division I LSU, and is not working hard.  He won the Gulf States Open, a pro event, and made it to the second stage of the Korn Ferry Tour School late in the fall.  And didn't make the cut to get to the final stage.  I won't talk about swing or play stuff, but I believe there are a couple of things that are essential.  Obviously, talent, and drive, or work ethic.   I can't tell you how to do it, but you HAVE to get through it.  Golf is going to be your life, and it takes lots of work. Two more things that are really critical.  You'll need the facility to be able to practice.  My young friend stayed in Baton Rouge, as a past player on the team he can still use the LSU practice facilities.  And money.  Its unlikely you'll be able to work a full-time job and practice the way you will need to.  You'll probably need backing, from a parent, from a consortium of friends or club members., something to support you. Good luck, its not an easy path, but anything is possible.  Another young man from our area, Mike Brennan, just won for the first time on the "big" PGA Tour.
    • No one in the world is as smart as Phil thinks he is.
    • Get more comfortable with being uncomfortable. If you don’t like practicing then give up now. You don’t have the passion to become a pro. Unless that mentality changes you won’t do well under stressful situations.    Call the PGA Tour and ask. They probably have resources available.
