pretty hard. probably 100 percent, its just kind of natural. and i can ramp it up to 110 if i want but i dont do that very often.

110%?

This is why these threads are ridiculous...nobody can swing above 100%, it's not physically possible. The point at which you cannot possibly increase the force you apply to the ball = 100%, and everything is relative to that amount of effort. I highly doubt you swing as hard as you possibly can every time you step up to the ball. Or maybe it's just me.

110%?

Sports metaphors are out of hand. Give %110. Sure, when it's possible, I will. But no one swings %100, it's just not possible for anyone to control the ball swinging as hard as they can. Most of these numbers seem very high. I said 50% normally, 75% at most, but even that may be high. A 100% swing would be way past parallel, extreme turn with the shoulders and hips, with the right foot coming way off the ground, and an absolute flail at the ball. Even competition long drivers don't go at the ball 100%. I doubt anyone here could even make contact at %100.

The shorter the club is, the harder i typically swing. I feel with a driver im going about 80%. With pitching wedge (the shortest club ill take a full swing with) I feel im 90-100% alot of the time.

I am the opposite. Not real sure of the %, but I will swing longer and harder with the longer clubs, and then try and have a shorter, more controlable swing with the shorter clubs.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

I don't have a built-in power gauge, so I don't have a clue how hard I swing. I sure can hit it faster and harder, slower and softer, but to put my swing into a percentage? Nah... I don't have anything to compare it against, what is 100% if you obviously can go past it? Not to talk about everyone having a different feeling of what 80% is.

It's probably a swing thought - to give an exact percentage would be a guess, but if you try to swing at 80% to hit a certain shot, and that shot works out, you'll try to get that "80%" feeling again.

What is 100%? Is it as hard as you can swing? Haven't you ever swung out of your shoes (figuratively speaking)?

I find that once a swing gets too long (maybe that's what people mean by 100%) the club head slows down. If it's just "swinging really hard" that's 100%, then I've been there a few times, but if that last bit of exaggerated wrist cock is what makes a swing "100%", then I'll probably

never get there.

I'm trying to learn not to think about it at all. I get myself in big trouble when I try to swing the club. My best shots are when I make a full shoulder turn, turn my hips toward the target and let the swing happen on its own. If I think about swinging the club I end up casting it from the outside, coming over the top and pulling the ball left.

Swing as hard as you can, don't worry about falling over, or loosing fundamentals, then tone it down till you can keep in balance and maintain the swing, thats 100%

    • I have had the flu recently which gave me plenty of time to pore over Joseph Mayo’s instagram. I have hit a ton of shots each day on carpet and a little started how easy this shot is to make. Key thought for me is bring the club “no closer to the earth.” That really resonated with me. If I really steepen the attack angle I can hit my 58* lob wedge barely an inch or two off the ground and a repeatable distance. I don’t recommend this but tried it to what the end ranges are for angle of descent. I actually think a 62*-64* wedge might be even better for this shot.
