LOL.....for some crazy reason, I just knew someone was going to list Robert Rock as one of the "unknown" or "unheralded" talents on the Euro Tour...

He came second at the irish open.

He's been consistently placing well in tournaments. Not long until he makes it.

Didn't he also come in 2nd last year to Shane Lowrey (sp?) when Lowrey was still an AM? I don't disagree that the Euro tour has talent, or that Rock is a good player...just thought it funny that his name came to my mind as I was writing my original post and then you mentioned him.

Just can't wait for the OPEN Championship.......

We need him on the US Tour so he can continue to prove to the naysayers that Stack and Tilt works!

If he plays in the US more, one day, he'll get paired up with Ryan Moore and it'll be the painter cap pairing, American style and Northern Irish style.

Roger Maltbie, of the Dustin Johnson looks exactly like Dustin Hoffman mess up, will be saying, "And now Moore, er, excuse me, McDowell, er Moore, ahhh whoever the f&*k he is, to tee."

McDowell isn't taught by Mike and Andy.

My point was really that the talent level on the US PGA is "top to bottom" much higher than the Euro Tour.....in fact, if you take away the top 15 players on both the Euro Tour and the Nationwide Tout, I think the Nationwide would be the stronger tour.

On what grounds do you base that assertion? Evidence, that is?

Of course, this is just my opinion......I don't begrudge anyone who may disagree

Fine but I have to admit that I DO begrudge people putting forward nonsense as if it was incontrovertible fact. It's chauvinistic, prejudiced, patronising and displays an ignorance of the broader world.

Just my opinion, of course.

Not sure why this thread about Graeme McDowell turned into a US vs Euro tour discussion. I think it's safe to say that both tours have their pro's and con's and I'll leave it at that.

As for the OP.... I've never payed much attention to McDowell until the US Open. After watching the Saturday and Sunday rounds, I can say that I am a fan. He handled himself very well around the course and really stayed calm under the pressure he faced after DJ blew up on the 2nd and 3rd right in front of him. Pro or not, it's gotta be hard mentally to see someone that normally dominates Pebble like DJ does fall apart so early in the round. Back to McDowell, I was especially impressed with the post round interview. Very very classy he seems to be and I hope this break through win in the US will be a sign of more great things to come. I hope he at least splits his time between the two tours, but you never know what an individual may decide is best for him.

You would have to be joking.....
