Been wanting to replace the grips on my i15's due to them not being fitted straight and also recently been finding the grip style on the new Ping's quite harsh on my hands the more and more I am playing at the moment.

Now I was gonna go for the GP DD2 but they are £6 each so am going for the plain GP TV's which I can get for £2.50 each (fitting them my self)

The question I have is that I am seeing them in Round or Ribbed, now from what I can tell the ones I have always had are Ribbed (look slightly oval looking from the top down) I have never had Round but think these may be better for me as I am between a standard and midsize (always have extra layer of tape) so would the Round be good for me?

I like the ribbed on straight shots, but feel a bit weird to me if you alter your grip for any reason. Since you are fitting them yourself you probably already know this, but proper alignment is crucial when fitting ribbed grips.

From what I have read, ribbed just means they have a raised sort of "point" along the back of the grip. It was originally meant to aid in alignment, but some people like it for the feel. I prefer the round ones, but mostly because I have never found ribbed ones that i live. The ribbed might be better, but you really just have to try them out and compare.

I have one ribbed grip on my irons and find that I struggle to work the ball with it. It's fine for straight shots but when I need to work the ball around trees or try to hit low fades / draws below them I struggle with it. In my experience, it might not just be the grip as the 3-iron (Ping i10) is the only one that isn't like my set with standard round tour velvets. I suggest trying them out. If you like the feel of the ribbed ones I would stick with those but in my case, round ones are better.

Cheers guys, alignment is one of the issues I am having, I have noticed that from my 8-4 iron the stock grips are not on straight, with the Ping logo down the front sitting straight the club face sits open, big time on the 4i, and the grips just don't feel right on these clubs with lots of shots lost right (not with the shorter irons that are straight) only noticed it recently so cannot send them back to Ping as bought them last October, hence me wanting to regrip them.

I think I am going to go with Round as this is what is on my driver/3 wood/hybrid and they sit nice in my grip. Thanks for your input fellas

Just called my dad about getting the GPTV Round grips and to take them to him to fit them, he said he has 7 x Lamkin Crossline Black left from some he bought a few weeks ago so he will fit these fro me, so I just saved myself £25
