so the vr drivers were priced at like 480 or whatever and have dropped to like 450 now
i was talking to a nike rep today and he saisd they wouldnt drop much into the 300 range
Why did they make this driver so damn expensive that it wont drop into the 200 range?

he said it woulldnt be likely it would drop into the 200s next year

As said when the new model comes out (more than likely 2011) the VR will drop in price.

As an example I paid £269 (when released it was £360) for my Nike Dymo Str8-fit last September 2009, they brought the VR out at the beginning of 2010 and I can now buy my driver for £119, but that is the same for any retailed product from PC's to TV's etc.

Just to add that the VR Str8-fit has been reduced in the UK already.

RRP £360 and cheapest I found is £261 online.

Yeah. Reps for most companies will tell you that the club won't drop below a certain price, but they will. A year from now, Nike will have a new driver and your golf shop will still have a dozen or so brand new VRs they want to sell, and the price will drop. I bought my Dymo2 for $120 or so a few months ago, and I would be surprised if VR drivers weren't around this price next year at this time.

You would probably be surprised how many they sell at $480 though. They tell people they won't come down because most people don't notice that prices fall so fast when the new models come out. That way Nike can get a huge profit off their new clubs while they can. Absolutely ridiculous that they do try to charge people that much for a drive though.
