What is the easiest way to try going about it?

What I am finding is that I am just not comfortable with the length of my R9 driver. I love the way it hits, but I find that I am gripping nearly the bottom of the grip to feel like I am set up correctly. I have a stock stiff shaft on it and was wanting to try something that runs about 2" shorter.

If I try the shaft out of an R9 3 wood, would that be something like the length I am after??

Just get it cut from the butt, which will not significantly affect the flex, and have some weight added to the head to get the swingweight back into line.

Stretch.

I wouldn't cut it down. It is a fairly rare customisation and might affect swing weight. Just because you prefer to grip down on it, doesn't mean you should shorten it. Anthony Kim grips 2" down on his clubs every time, and says that if he isn't gripping down, he isn't playing well. And he doesn't shorten his clubs.

Trim the club from the butt end. I have done this to my drivers for years. Put a piece of tape on the end and mark where you want to cut with a hack saw(the tape will keep the graphite from stripping or fraying).

I personally don't feel as if I lose much distance with a shorter driver but I do feel like I have more control.

Trim the butt and them buy some heavier MWT weight screws from Taylor Made to make the head heavier. Just make sure that you take the time to get used to not gripping it down anymore.

Is grip size also the issue? If you a gripping down ont eh club you have a narrower grip in your hand. After you cut down the driver you may want to regrip with an undersized grip (check it out any way)
