Hey y'all,

I know I may sound completely stupid but what is the deal for all the different putter types? I mean blade putters, mallet putters, belly putters, etc. Are the different putters for different putting stroke types? For example, my putting stroke goes straight back and forth so what type of putter is good for that? I've seen so many different putters and I don't know what to look for in my next new putter.
Thanks in advance!

Just go for what you think may be best for your style. Go to a store and try out as many as you can to get the feel of them and see which putter will look the best when looking down. It's all about having confidence in your gear and what feels best to you. For me it is a blade but I like the Corza Ghost from TM also, which is a mallet.

Yeah I love that Ghost putter. By far the best looking I think. I'm leaning toward getting that one.

Don has a good point....how the shaft connects to the head also have an impact.

Consider this, a mallet will tend, but always, reduce or eliminate the opening or closing of the face during the back stroke, and it has to do with the way the head is balanced and weight is distributed. Where in a blade style putter it's all you....in other words, the head may help you reduce some of the variables on your swing. Also a mallet will have a better alignment aid for example the Odyssey 2-ball, TM spider and ghost, Rife's 2-bar...these aids are larger, passive reminders of the aiming line, as opposed to the single line or dot that blades tend to have.

Also Mallets will tend to be forgiving in terms of off center hits.... I ave played with a blade, actually started out with a blade, but no I'm a convert to mallets. I have a Rife Mr. Beasley (awesome) and a Odyssey Teron, in nearly mint condition 34" that I seldom use, but the alligment aid on this one is amazing.
It's the indian, not the arrow! But it sure is nice to have good arrows!!!!!

I am of the opinion that if a person gets ANY putter (only one putter) and sticks with it ... the type makes no difference.
Give me any decent putter, and within a couple days I will putt exactly the way I do today with mine.
It's all in ones head.
