How far after the ball should the divot start wihen swinging a six iron? Should it change much when swinging diffwrent clubs?

Divot sizes will differ from swing to swing but I can't imagine taking a 3-4 inch divot with my longer irons. My short irons/wedges are definitely bigger than 3-4 inches. Probably why my handicap is a 11 and his is a 5.

how do you manage to hit a 3-4 inch divot and still get thru the ground and able to follow through cleanly? I haven't figured that out yet.

well, they may be a bit longer than that, i'm not exactly measuring them with a ruler. what i meant to say is the deepest part of the divot is about 3 or 4 inches in front. sorry about the confusion.

Infront of the ball, thats all that matters. Everyone is different, a more steeper swing will have it closer to the ball, a shallower swing will be further out, but as long as you hit the ball first you are fine.
