Need help!!!

I swing faster than most players and a assistant pro that played with me recently thought i should get new iron re shafted with x stiff. Does anyone here play with X stiff metal shafts?

This guy says that the flex in my irons is so great that the contact is always going to result in a delofted hook. (club is still lagging from flex at impact) any thoughts?

I use 6.0's freq'd to 6.2 and 6.5 in my wedges. I do not swing to fast more than I hit the ball hard... I love them and hit the with a really good penetrating ball flight. I hit a PW today down wind about 182... I had 168 into the flag but the green was hard and it just released...

First you will have to be measured, it might well be it looks you swing fast, but actually you don't .....

It might well be that the measurements will lead to S shafts. A lot of pro's use X shafts for having optimum accuracy, but most recreational golfers end up at a medical docter for having all kinds of physical problems...... from way to stiff shafts.

Very few golfers will need X shafts ..... certainly a terrible lot less than they think ......

Maybe your fastest swings are really fast, but golf isn't played with 100% swingspeed ..... more with like 70-80%.

Im over 120ss and its not at %100. im over 6foot 3 and the shafts are a bit longer so club head is moving fairly fast.


So metal shafts are gauged at 5.0 6.0? not s or x?

If the assistant pro has seen you play and suggests a stiffer iron shaft, he's likely right.

5.0, 6.0, etc are for rifle shafts. It's just another way of designating stiffness, like A,S,R,S,X....

If you are 6'3'' and have good swing fundamentals, it's very likely you'd benefit from a X shaft in your irons. I am 6'1'' and 170 lbs, with a driver swing speed of 118-121. I play rifle 6.5 shafts, which are comparable to a firm X flex shaft from True Temper or other. I like them.
