Hello all, I just found this place and am enjoying browsing the site. I have played golf on and off with my dad over the years but am now really getting into it because I love spending time with my dad and wanted some way to stay involved with competitive sports. Looking forward to reading some interesting stuff from everyone here, thanks.

Chris

Hello Chris, I'm a newbie too. I'm in Sacramento. Just a rocks throw away!

Yep not far at all. What are some of your favorite courses in this area? I haven't played many around Sac.

I'm a little farther north, in Red Bluff. Haggin Oaks(Alister MacKenzie) is a great course in sac that I just played. If you ever want to take a short day trip up I-5 Sevillano Links, my home course, is an amazing place to play.

Yes Haggin is a good one, that's actually my home course. My favorite course in Sacramento right now and has been for a while is Wild Hawk on Gerber Road. I've shot some of my lowest scores there. Wide open, a couple of the par 4's are reachable for the longer hitters. It's nice overall, and not too expensive.

I just played a place called The Ridge, it's in Auburn, and that was really a nice course. Little thin on a couple of the fairways, but a very nice course overall. Darkhorse is another one I like as well. I like the courses that are quiet, tucked away, I like the courses in the hills. Makes for a nice day.

I'll have to try a few of these out. I agree courses that are ourt of the way and in quiet places are my favorite as well. I can't stand playing a course that's near a freeway. I love playing Diablo Grande down in Patterson, it's secluded and you never have to see a house if you play the Legends course.
