At address my clubs are upright with the toes pointing up. I am 5'7" with 33" of wrist-to-floor measurement. Most info I found suggest that my standard clubs are any where from 1 to 2 degree to upright. Practicing on the mats, I can see that the marks are from the heel to the center and very few at the toe.

If I just want to adjust the lie, how much is the cost and where I can go? I can't afford swing analysis, putting analysis, shaft analysis which I found out cost $400.

I live in San Diego.

Thanks,

My goodness, $400? For that kind of money, the true temper dynamics better be made of gold for real!

In seriousness... a golf shop can put lie angle tape at the sole of your club and have you hit off a ... plastic thing. I'm not sure what it's called. But then they can bend your clubs to be the same lie angle. If you really push it, you could ask them to measure each iron individually. If you commit to having them do the lie angle adjustment, they probably throw in the "figuring out what to bend it to" for free. Check out The Golf Mart - they're affiliated with the Roger Dunn shops north of you (O.C., L.A.). http://www.worldwidegolfshops.com/Locator/index.shtml Some caveats: - Forged clubs are easier to bend than cast clubs. Some places won't bend cast clubs, or might not bend beyond a degree or two. If you're only off by a degree or two, this might be fine. What are you using? - Having the store bend your clubs might void a manufacturer's warranty. - The shaft isn't the issue, unless it's too long or too short, if all you're worried about is the lie angle.

Whether you can have your clubs bent depends on the clubs. As Shindig said, most of the cast clubs can't be bent without considerable risk of breaking. I'd say the first thing you should do is go for a fitting. Most golf shops will not charge for this and those that do won't charge very much. At least then you know whether they need to be bent in the first place and if so how far. I'm told us shorter players need a flatter lie angle (I'm 5'9" and play Ping orange dot irons which are 2.25* flat).

Curiously, for that same $400 spent for analysis you could walk into Austad's Golf and buy a set of Ping G10's and have them sent to the factory and bent to your specs for an extra ten bucks.

I'm your height (don't know wrist to floor). When I address, like you said, my club toes are pointing up. But I found this is normal after hitting it off with tape on a lie board. The fitter said the lie is correct.

Here's a suggestion. First, check the lie on a lie board. The toes pointing up doesn't necessary mean upright. If the clubs are too upright, then you have 2 options. Flatten the lies ($$$) or grip down (free). Gripping down an inch does wonders!

Yes, I tried gripping it down but it only helps a little bit. I don't have much problem with the long irons but the short irons are especially bad. I have been hitting them left all these times and not sure why. I would like to blem on the lie

. I am going to GolfSmith today. Their website says they charge $3.99 to adjust the lie of each club. I am not sure if this is only for bending the lie according to my spec or this will include checking each club after I hit on the lie board. Thanks,

I went to GolfSmith and the guy who helped me was really helpful. He had me hit the ball on a lie board and found out that I need 3 degree flat for my SW to 8 iron, and 2 degree flat for 7 to 5 irons. No adjustment needed for the 3 and 4 iron.

The cost is $5 for each, so it was $35 total. I will pick them up on Tuesday to try them out. I wish I hane done this earlier.

First off, do not trust any of the online recommendations for lie angle based upon height and wrist-to-floor measurements. I'm 6'2" and have a 37ish" wrist-to-floor, and most of the online "fittings" say I should be playing 2-3* upright. When I hit off of the lie board (ie. reality), I need 2* flat. NEVER trust the "spec sheets" you find online.

As for the cost of lie adjustments, it costs next to nothing compared to the other things that club fitters will charge for. To bend all you irons/wedges (assuming 10 clubs), I can't see it costing more than $30-40 at the very most.
