anyone notice how luke donald sets the ball up towards the heel of every club? i guess thats just preference. how do you guys set your ball up? i set up in between the toe and the middle.

Yeah I've noticed that for a while now and wondered why.

Personally I like to set up with the ball in the middle of the clubface - looks right to me.

I also setup with the ball in the middle of the clubface, I have to have a solid visual before my backswing or else it just wont feel right.

Used to setup off the toe. Now the heel. Mainly due to the fact that the sweet spot in those drivers weren't/aren't in the exact centre of the clubface.

Be careful of camera angles, they can distort this. At the range look at your ball and check your position with one eye open at a time. A lot of people suppress one eye or the other [kind of super dominant eye] and this can lead to your position not really being what you think it is.

I was working at our sister club when the Nationwide was there (Henrico County Open). And I was following one of my buddies Kip Henley (Big Break II winner) and one of his pairings hit a Clevand Hi-Bore off the deck on the tee box. I mean NO TEE or anything just dropped it and swung away. I can't remember his name but he was averaging 260-275yds or something crazy like that. It was amazing.

I hit the HiBore off the deck once. It took one swing and this was just as talk of the HiBore fairway woods were coming out. It convinced me that they were worth a look.

(And yes, even the shot off the deck went left. Everything with the HiBore went left on me.)

      St. Louis Area Golfers?

      Things didn’t work out with the cutting horse barn my wife was working for there in Virginia. Their Texas facility we were supposed to move down to ended up delayed for at least an extra year after they’d had us leave Virginia to meet them down there “shortly”. So we ended up getting some land by her family in Missouri and building a house of our own down here instead. Not as many courses, but there is one 5 minutes from the house that’s only $62/mo for both of us to be members at and other nicer ones within a reasonable drive as well.    @Rick_D I’ll try to remember to let you know when I’m heading up that direction. It may happen more frequently in the coming year since a dealer for a business I started recently is based out of St Charles so making deliveries myself might be more economical than shipping.

      I don’t know why my swing got so vertical there. That wasn’t normal.    What did you mean by point 3? I get the hip turn portion.

      Patrick Cantlay's strokes gained from 2024: I wonder if he takes more time on approach shots given that was the worst part of his game last season. And then here are his 2023 stats: Much better ball striking season. I wonder if there are any differences in his times between these two seasons. I tend to think he's just slow in general, but it'd be interesting to see his time differences.
