getting irons I already own fitted for me, possible?

I was wondering if I can get professionaly fitted for irons/woods, but just have the irons/woods that I already own adjusted if need be. Is this possible? I have never been fit for clubs before and I know the benefits to being fit for clubs, but i dont have enough money to completely buy new clubs.

This shouldn't be an issue as long as the adjustments that need to be made aren't massive (more than 3 or 4 degrees flat or upright). Being left handed and having Taylormade stop making the LT's about the same time I was buying them basically put me into that position. I had to buy a set of standard lie, stiff shafted, irons knowing that they more than likely would have to be adjusted to 2 degrees upright. There are plenty of places that will adjust the lie of your current irons, depending on how old they are though, I might suggest getting fit and then having them sent back to the manufacturer to be adjusted; Taylormade was awesome about this and didn't even charge me for the adjustment. Having them (the mfg) do this typically will also keep the warranty in place for the clubs if it hasn't already expired.

Either way, if it isn't a big adjustment, it sohuld be a problem at all...

how long did it take to get the clubs back? I think it would be best to return the clubs to the manufacturer but I also dont want to be without my sticks for too long......

I had them in a week, but I also paid for overnight shipping

. You are responsible for the cost of shipping, so you get to have them back as fast or as slow as you're willing to spend. The clubs themselves spend about 4 days there.

I'm guessing you're asking about what it costs to get fit at a shop? I'm really not sure, I've got a pretty good relationship built wit the guys at my local shop. They gave me some demos to take out on the course, then they did the whole dynamic lie fitting with the impact tape, the lie board, and the sticker on the sole of the club. Although they wouldn't have charged me anyway since the clubs were brand new and fitting is part of the purchasing process at this particular store. Launch monitor fitting seems to range anywhere between 29.99 on up depending on the level of detail that goes into the fitting process. My suggestion would be to go back to the place that sold you the clubs and tell them you're not completely satisfied with the job they did in the initial sale and that you'd like to have the clubs more accurately fit to you.

A lot of shops will charge $30 to $50 to $100 for a fitting ($100 is rare - usually around $50), but apply it towards the purchase of a club if you buy one. So if you spend $50 on a launch monitor, it may not be worth it to then go online and buy the same driver for $30 less (or whatever).

Make sure you get to a qualified clubfitter whatever happens. I spent $30 at Puetz golf and did not get a good fitting. I was fit for shafts too weak for my swing. I don't think the guy was paying attention since I told them I wasn't buying clubs from them. But I did spend $30... or waste it.

Ask around a bit.
