One of my goals for the year was to break 70 and I achieved it yesterday with a 69 on my home course. Its a par 70 and I had a 35 on the front and 34 on the back.

Highlights
1 eagle
6 birdies
-5 on the Par 5s
+1 on the Par 3s

Low lights
+3 on Par 4s including 2 bogeys, 2 double bogeys and 3 birdies
Missed a 8 foot birdie putt on 14
Missed a 5 foot birdie putt on 17 (nerves)
Drove into the trees on 18 and then proceeded to 3 putt for bogey (nerves)

I scrambled my butt off for the entire round, so it certainly didn't feel like a stellar performance. I was a little surprised that my score affected my game the way it did on the closing holes. This year I've tried hard to immerse myself in my routine but wow, I was pretty shaky on the last 2 holes.

Nonetheless, pretty stoked today! I was a 19 handicap 2 years ago, so lots of hard work has paid off!

If you are a 7.0 handicap like what you have listed, that sure is a damn good accomplishment. Not only that but you had two double-bogies yet still kept your cool instead of blowing up after them. Way to go!!!!

That's ridiculous. I can't believe people shoot under par. Congratulations!

    • Great year last year. Who winning this year could be another special story? Brooks? Spieth? Or Aberg? An AM? I dont know if anything could top last year
    • I love Rancho Park too!  I don't get out there much due to the 405 issues (Im in Santa Clarita) but I do try and get out there every now and then...last time out was in January where I eagled 17 (left green) with a holed 145 yard third shot ! Rancho is a great course! And at 24 bucks weekday with the city card, an absolute steal!
    • I have played PGA West, at least one or two courses in there, but I am not sure if I've played any of the courses used to host the Hope. I played a course that I think both isn't PGA West and is host to the Hope a few years ago, possibly at a TST outing, but I'm not sure if I'm thinking of the right one. I have played Rancho Park plenty of times (exactly half of my sub-80 rounds were there!) and Wilson/Harding.  Rancho Park might be my favorite golf course among those I've played more than a half dozen times.   Hopefully I'll get a chance to play TPC Scottsdale, maybe this August or September, and at some point I think there was a PGA Tour event in Las Vegas, I should get up there and play those course(s).
