According to

PGA.com (well, PA Sport anyway):
Nick Faldo believes that major pressure is more intense, while Ian Woosnam says there is no more intensity than the Ryder Cup.

My answer? Both have more pressure. How so? If you're near the lead in a major, I think that's more pressure-packed than playing the Ryder Cup. However, if you're not near the lead in a major, the Ryder Cup is more pressure-packed. After all, you can T24 in a major and not give too much of a whit, but every point counts in a Ryder Cup.

Colin Montgomerie has many, many Ryder Cup highlights. I wonder how many he'd trade to have won one major?

According to

I vote majors. Yes, it's very difficult to earn points in the Ryder Cup, but it's also not up to one person to earn every single point, or play every single shot for that matter. Majors you're responsible for every shot of your own, and it only takes one bad decision to lose the tournament.

This is the kind of discussion I want to get involved in for sure. This is a very nice topic for me to start off with.

I disagree with the first two opinions.

I voted for the Ryder Cup having the most pressure. Sure, being in the lead in a major has a whole load of pressure, but here is why I think the Ryder Cup pressure is even more overwhelming.

When a guy is leading a major, he is the one who can lose the tourney for himself. He has to rely on himself and only himself to get the job done and finish the job.

When a guy is leading in a Ryder Cup match or his duo is leading in a Ryder Cup match, the pressure is on not only him but his partner too.

There is no great pressure than peer pressure IMO. I know I would be much more nervous playing in a Ryder Cup than a major. Because if I did bad in a major, I would have to live with myself only. If I choked in a Ryder Cup, there would be MANY MORE people mad at me. Now that is pressure for sure.

But that is definitely not saying each don't have its own tough pressure because they both do for sure.

I just think the Ryder Cup pressure is the extreme as far as golf goes.

    • Day 5- Slow,  short swings with short practice club.
    • Lemme guess….’ We don’t want any confrontation so nobody says anything.’ Sheesh…..Call him out and fix the problem.
    • Went to a PING fitting day today. Going to be ordering a G430 Max 3w with a 75g x-stiff shaft at 5w length and a 3h. I forget what my fitter did with the shaft on that but she told me she’s going to email the club the specs of everything. The 3w combination we found pretty quickly. As for the hybrid, we tried a bunch of different head and shaft combinations for that distance with mixed results. Then she handed me the 3h and I took three swings with it and knew it was the one.
    • Yeah, this isn't sandbagging. It's outright cheating. He should be banned.
    • That’s quite a generalization. It’s clear that you don’t like water but there are plenty of us that drink it just fine. My daily intake is usually about 20oz of black coffee, 16oz of soda, 8oz of milk mixed into a protein shake, and anywhere between 30-60oz of water. It doesn’t even need to be cold and I kind of prefer it closer to room temperature than cold. I quite like the taste of tap water, with sole exception being the tap water at Magic Kingdom (it’s terrible). I can’t stand when people bring me tap water with a lemon wedge in it. I didn’t ask for lemon in my water.
