My SC putter is the "Putter of the Day"

I bought a used Scotty Cameron Studio Design 2 about 6-7 months ago from a local golf shop. I was in good "gamer" condition, but you can tell someone had used it for a decade and not taken care of it all that well. About 2 months ago I sent it into the Scotty Cameron Custom Shop for a complete restoration. I've sent a putter into them before so I know they do great work. After a long wait, the putter arrived in the mail earlier this week, and it looks absolutely amazing. I was on the SC website yesterday looking up specso n a different putter, and what's the first thing that I see on their homepage? It's my putter on the top banner as their "Custom Shop Putter of the Day"!!! I did a double and triple take and thought it had to be someone else's putter but it was mine!!!

I'm kinda excited but feel dorky because I'm excited.

Sweet it looks great, lucky find since it switches, hope you got it authenticated as well, might as well if you are gonna send it in. Seeing that certificate makes it more valuable, and just a cool piece to it.

I check there homepage a lot to see the customs for ideas, especially since there is a lot of secret custom options that they don't put on the order form. How much was it all together(also you you paid for the old putter), and what options did you choose?

I didn't get the authentication mainly because I don't plan on selling the putter anytime soon and since it's an OTR model that really isn't worth all that much compared to other limited/tour models out there. As for the price, I'll leave it up to you to calculate how much it cost. The putter cost me about $120 used, and at the Custom Shop I had a complete restoration (re-milled, new finish/shaft/grip/shaftband/headcover/paintfill), Custom Shop stamp, loft/lie/length changed, and upgraded teh headcover to the red nylon NOS. You mention options that are not shown on the order form. If you go onto Cameron Collector in teh Custom Shop area, they have a sticky thread up at the top where they go over every option available, whether it's on the order form or not.

Damn, when I sent my Scotty in i kept checking for like a month after I got the putter back to see if it made it to putter of the day but it never did... :o(

Very nice!!

I have that exact putter in my bag. Mine was bought "used", but I don't think it ever saw a blade of grass or a bag. There were a couple of rust spots on it that are worn off now from use. I have thought about sending it in for the spa treatment, but if it came back looking like yours there is no way i would ever put it back in my bag!!

my guess is that it's the gun blue finish he used on the older Circa 62's. Hard to tell from a pic, but did it look like this:

My putter pictures above have the Gun Blue finish on it. Gun Blue and Black Oxide both mean the same thing.

THe finish he's describing is probably either an Oil Can finish with really good lighting or it's the tour-only Chromatic Blue finish.       Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.

      Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂

      I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).

      Day 2, 12/31/25.  Similar to yesterday (rainy, no surprise), I hit primarily 6-iron full swings with the same focus;  I also hit some chips (about 1/8 swing) with the 54.  About two dozen full swings and an equal number of short shots.  All of this was indoors, off a mat, into a net, real balls.
