I was practicing at the range one time with a four wood and nailed a bird flying across the range, dropped like a rock dead. There were 2 young boys taking a lesson nearby, with their mother watching. She chewed me out. She thought I did it on purpose. Obviously she didn't know my golf game I hardly ever hit what I aim at.

While in Cancun last year I was playing a beautiful Jack Nicklaus course at the Moon Palace. Got to the third hole and the beverage girl drove up with dos equis and sandwiches. On the next tee the absolute strangest frickin' animal "marsupial’ish" showed up. This "thing" was about the size of a large dog. But it had the tail of a monkey. So this "dogkey" gets up in the cart and steals my sandwich. I was so shocked by what I had just seen that I couldn't even react. Then on the 9th hole the beverage girl came by once again with beers and sandwiches. On the 11th tee the "dogkey" came right up to the cart "I was in it this time" and tried to grab my sandwich. By this time I was pretty hungry and since I was holding my 9 iron I used the butt end and hit it on the back. I didn't even phase it... It went over me and grabbed the sandwich again. However, not before I got one more good whack at it. As it was walking away "eating my sandwich" it turned and looked at me like I was the jerk. Found out later it was a Mexican Raccoon.

At Longhills Golf Course in Benton, Ar, #10 in a par 3 downhill with a huge oak tree just off the right side of the tee box. Almost everyone has to wait to tee off here because stopping at the clubhouse for a hot dog slows down the groups. There is a squirrel that lives in that oak tree who has made it his mission in life to get part of the bun off every hot dog being eaten at that tee box. He will sit a couple of feet from the cart and chatter hoping you are smart enough to just give it up. If not, he WILL get in the cart with you and steal it.

Canadian geese are very tasty. And they are a pain in the a** their populations are growing so fast. These are not the migratory geese but the "giant" Canadians that stay in an area year round. They pollute ponds and streams and need to be thinned out. I can understand being upset at killing a cute little bird but a goose? Not me.

At my home course we get lots of kangaroos and a few wallabies, late in the afternoon there are often so many that it seems difficult to not hit one although you rarely do. I have hit them a few times but always on the bounce, never on the full. My mother-in-law was visiting us one time and we went out for a game end she managed to hit a young roo in the head with a full 3 iron from about 20 yards. The thing wobbled a bit, did a few hops in a confused circle then fell over and lay there, happily though it hopped back up within a few seconds and headed off in to the bush.

Sandwich stealing animals...

Out here in Hawaii we have the lovely Mongoose that don't really do anything except look like pointy rats. But they do know where to hang out on a golf course.

I usually bring a little snack on the front nine, and no animals bother it if I leave it in the cart. then at the turn I grab a hot dog and beer and head to the tenth hole. Sure as the sky is blue, everytime, if you make it to the 10th green with even a corner of that dog left and leave it in your cart as you go to the green, mongoose, multiple will jump right up and snag your food. Everytime. The course is koolau in hawaii so watch out if you play there.

As for hitting the wildlife. I played with a buddy who hit his drive damn near sideways off the tee, bounced it off the rang guys car and smacked a peacock, right in the side. Luckily the bumper of the car absorbed a lot of the force, plus a ball traveling sideways can't have been hit that forceful, and the bird lived to strut another day.

It was an elevated tee - driver in hand - large lake on the left - and just near it, a big group of these black mud hen things - short, fat, & no tails, about 10 inches high. I am an animal lover!

So there is no way I want to get near them on the left side where the lake is, but they are all I can think about! I aim further right - then snap hook it right into them on a frozen rope. Man, you could hear the thwaaap! They all kind of separated and one was out cold.

By the time my group tee'd off and we made our way down there, this mud hen sort of got up, shook himself and proceeded to catch up with the rest of the mud hens wandering down the fairway.

Thank gosh I use low compression balls!

Wow... as an animal lover, that is really bad! I'm sorry to hear you had that kinda experience on the course. At least you did the right thing! Good job.

canadian geese are nasty, filthy animals. it will taste nothing like the farm geese. Let it rot on the fairways to scare away other shit-machines. I hate them. In spring time there is more goose poop on my back yard than grass. I've a bucket full of rocks on my deck ready to defend my yard against the canadian air force !

I am glad I wasn't drinking anything when I read this. I would have shot it out my nose onto the monitor. Hilarious. They are beasts that need to be exterminated. My wife's golf cart wheels always pick up a load or two. Damn crap factories. There was one at our course a few years ago with an arrow through it for a few weeks.

My brother in law was teeing off on the 10th. It's a dog leg right. He hit a low screamer towards the corner when somthing poped up in the air. As we got closer we saw a rabbit take it's last breath. The ball is right next to it's head and he asks if he can move the ball. We let him take free "relief." Although, we did occasionally get him with "What's up doc" in his back swing. About 4 years later we were playing and a ribbit hopped across the fairway when he was on the tee. I blurted out "run for your life". His divot went farther than the ball.
