So this is kind of a little story time. So on Monday I was at the range and noticed my 7 iron was a bit loose. I was thinking, that seems odd so I kind of play with the head (sorry this sounds sexual) and the 7 iron head came completely detached from the shaft. Hmm, so I took it over to the local pro golf shop around here and they are fixing the 7 iron up- re-epoxy, sand the works.

Anyways, so I have my golf lesson yesterday and am hitting some PW shots and all of a sudden I crank a nice looking shot except it felt really odd. Well that's because the PW shaft broke right at the hosel as the club head flew down range. So now when I pick up my 7 iron tonight I'm going to have to get my PW reshafted. I am playing golf tonight with some buddies and am a bit nervous something bad will happen to another one of my golf clubs since bad things happen in 3s.

Anyone else have any stories about their golf clubs breaking down? I take great care of my clubs, no throwing clubs, beating them into the ground etc. Just freak accidents I suppose.

My first real set of irons were PGA concept blades that my dad gave me. They had dg S300 shafts. Sweet clubs. Played them from shooting in the 100s down to the high 70s in high school. I broke 3 irons in the same round! The shafts had rusted from the inside out and they all snapped at the hosel. I had been playing them for 10 years and my dad had played them for close to 20. I just replaced the whole set at that point...went with lynx parallax irons...if anyone remembers those. Just replaced those after a 3 year break from the game!

I had a set of extremely cheap, no name clubs in college. Didn't really play at the time, but would hit balls at the range from time to time. I actually snapped the clubhead in half on my 3iron, right through the middle of the blade of the iron. Did the same thing with the 4iron basically as well, it didn't snap off but cracked and bent about 20* (the ultimate Draw biased club). Sometimes it doesn't pay to be cheap.

Just start playing golf about 2 weeks ago and on my first trip to the range the head of my dads driver flew off as I hit the ball. The next day I went with my friend and he had a really old driver, sure enough on my second or third swing the shaft broke almost at the half way point and I did not even hit the ground. I never broke a third one though....yet.
