I recently played a course in my home town of Liverpool, England. Its only a public course and doesnt pretend to be anything else, you get alot of kids, gangs of partime golfers all with no ettique or who are just oblivious to golf pretence and manners and its just generally a crap course.

But I am starting this thread as it seems such a shame because the greens that are on this course are the best greens i have seen anywhere, they are just immacluate and could easily be seen on any championship courses anywhere in the world, it just a terrible waste on such a bad course!!!

Anyone else had an experience like this.

I can't tell I do... It's big money deal here in New Jersey (land is expensive), if a course has potential to attract golfers with the quality of grass - you can bet it will be expensive, semi- or even fully private in no-time. No land wasting here.
But then of course - the BEST courses that are fully private are being played on by people who afford it, not people who appreciate the layout/quality or even CAN play. From that point of view - yeah, we're wasting a lot of golf courses

I like to play small town golf courses when I travel. There are a couple of 9 hole courses in small towns in northeren Iowa I have played that are just great. Farmers in overalls out for league etc. Common courtesy and common sense just seems to be part of the culture in these towns. Maybe the fact that the course is a reflection of community pride is part of it also.

    • Day 47: simulator day! Played St. Andrew’s and shot a +1. Not bad, especially with having to putt at this simulator set up. Had about 5 minutes at the end to work on some feels as well.
    • I think you're saying it's preposterous to think that the areas on this club are anything like what's shown here: 30mm toward the toe or heel loses only 5% distance? Highly, highly doubtful. So a guy who hits the ball there and normally hits the ball about 250… will hit it instead about 238. By missing the sweet spot by about 1.2 inches? Highly, highly doubtful. Heck, the high heel barely gets into the red, and orange is only "up to" 10%! @M2R, I've never heard of "Ask Golf Nut" but I'm dubious of his claims in the video and really, really dubious of what's on his site: "Why AskGolfNut Is the Most Trusted Data-Driven Golf Resource". Hmmmmmm.
    • Day 151 1-11 flow work today. I've been doing all pause work, so Inwanted to get some rhythm going. Recorded.

    • So the question was posed today by some of my friends.  Is a pitch mark the same as a divot?  I thought NO, but they argued if your ball lands in another player's divot (made by club during a swing) this was the same as a pitch mark, i.e. the ball mark made when the ball lands
