Hello all, I have been playing golf since the spring of 09 when we had a scramble at work and thought it would be fun and a way to get out of work for the afternoon. Well that was the worse thing I could have done. I bought my first set of clubs a few days later and they were around for a week or so then a set of ping eye 2s that were the wrong lie. Imagine that a new guy that knew nothing about golf buying the wrong stuff.

So I did some research and found out I needed to get fitted so off to the pro shop I went. He had a set of used G5 Ping irons and over the next months I bought the rest, G15 driver ,3,5,18, and 24 hybrids that fit me and now I have way to much invested in them to add up (I would just get upset) but I figure if I get tired of playing I will be able to sell them and recoup some of the investment. That's what I tell myself to make me feel better at least.

I know I'm not good but I have fun and shoot in the 90s most days. If I could be a consistent 88 or so I would be more then happy.

But hey I was a drag racer for 20 years that went all over the country so this is cheap compaired to that.

Hi Mike. I live over in Sugar Land, but have family in League City. I have had fun teaching my three grandsons in L.C. to play golf. Mostly we play at Beacon Lakes on FM 646 which is the closest public course to their house. They have good rates and the course drains pretty well after rains. Which pro shop did you use to get your fitting?

Welcome Mike, I am also a League City resident. We have a ton of good courses in the Houston area. If you get real serious and want to join a club Canongate has a good deal where you can play South Shore and Mag Creek.

John, I play at Beacon lakes and joined the GAP program a few months back. I work with Jacob that works in the office, pro shop whatever you want to call it.

I got fitted at Big O's on 518 Oscar is a nice guy and has quite a bit of info he shares.

I got the info in the mail for Canongate but it was unclear what you got for the money and a guest was 65.00 on the weekend. I thought about it but I'm in the middle of fixing up my house to put it on the market and the extra money can be put to better use for the next few months. We play our scrambles from work at Mag Creek. Nice place but I feel like I don't belong there shooting 98+ most days. Those places are for someone better than I am.

Hello, I'm in Massachusetts, dreaming of moving to Texas. I'm retired and would be there now, but I have to wait for my wife to get motivated. She's for it she says, but when is another question. We've been checking places on Zillow.com in the Houston area, and the Austin, Round Rock area. Round Rock seems to be nice for golf. Two good golf communities built around golf courses there.

Why are you selling your house? League City is south of Houston is it not? My wife gets impatient with me because I keep jumping all over Texas.

BB I have a racecar fab shop at my house but I am running out of room in the shop and a friend is selling his house with a 2100 SF shop in the back. I always thought if he sold it I would like to buy it so mine is going up for sale. Yes we are halfway between Houston and Galveston closer to HW 146 than 45 right around the corner from South Shore Harbor golf course and 2 miles or so to the Kemah waterfront. There are 4-5 courses between 5-15 miles or less and three private courses within 5 miles or so.

    • Day 84 - 2024-12-23 I hit balls for 20 minutes after lessons and after getting down a BodiTrak for resale. Hinge. Path was weirdly consistent today at 1.6° or so ± like 0.8° only.
    • Day 13: 12/23/2024 A lot more mirror work today. Using my same swing thought. Some slow motion, some full motion, some in between. Today I made sure I took every swing all the way to the finish.
    • Day 234 (23 Dec 24) - Mystery Monday - what to do today….pretty straight up as I spent time with the 58 and a series of pitches (lower flighted all the way up to high fliers over the tulip tree).  Wrapped up the day going lower ball with the 9i and easy bump and runs.  Again as always the setup was key - case in point, got lazy and casually set up, feet straight and promptly hit a couple of nice heely shots hard right.  Knew it immediately, as next couple I went through the routine and flew the balls promptly too the target point.  Setup - setup - setup…
