Fairway wood shaft weight.

I checked my 3 wood and the shaft is 85G. I played with a 50G driver shaft. I think the hybrids are 65G. Why is the 3 wood shaft so heavy, and is that typical? Does anyone play with a lighter shaft?

accuracy.

a light shaft, which can improve club head speed...but at the cost of accuracy for a lot of players.

a heavier shaft will reduce the speed but you have much more control over your shots.

I have all the same shaft weight on driver and fairway woods at 65g. They have been in my bag for over 4 or 5 years. 65g fairwaywood shaft is pretty common for R-flex, while many S-flex shafts have 75g in weight.
