Titleist AP1 Irons

The distance probably comes from a stronger lofting. The AP1's I have match with my old set except they're one number off. Meaning my 4iron has I believe 23* of loft where my 3 iron used to have 23* of loft. all the way through to the strong ass 45* pitching wedge. My 9 iron used to have 45*. So take the distance gain with a grain of salt. That being said i hit my 4 iron Ap1 1000 times more accurately than my old 3 iron. Im actually looking for a 3 iron AP1 with a matching shaft of what I have now on ebay. I kinda want their gap wedge too even though I have a vokey gap wedge.

You can get the new AP1 3i on TGW for about $90...

I've been using a set for about a month and really like them, though the Mizuno MX-300s are in my head. I've got another month and a half before the GolfSmtih 90/90 policy runs out though.

I stopped at Golf Galaxy today after my round to pick up some balls and was drooling over the AP1s as I've had my eye on those for a while. The manager started chatting me up and offered to let me hit a few balls even though I had no intention of buying. He also suggested I try the MX-300 as a comparison. I've got to say while the AP1s felt as great as I hoped they would, they felt a little bulky after hitting the MX-300s. I liked them both but if I had been buying today I probably would have bought the Mizunos. We'll see what happens when I actually have money :)

To the OP, I think you've got a great set of irons, congrats!

If you're referring to me, the one who originally posted this thread, then the answer to your question is no, not yet. The reason is that my clubs are in Florida where I'm having the lofts and lies adjusted and the shafts SST pured, which is a shaft alignment process far more complex than spine aligning. I should have my new clubs back the first week after Labor Day. I fully intend to report on the effectiveness of this procedure plus on the clubs themselves. I've been hitting my Ping Eye 2's in the meantime. Still great clubs, but not nearly as forgiving as the AP 1's seemed to be on the driving range. Stay tuned.

Been looking into these clubs for myself lately also seen a pro about a fitting but he did offer me other options still though I liked the feel of the AP1's. You have a great set, be sure to give us some feedback after a round or two on the course.
