Ok so I walk into Golf Discount today and there they are a set of G10 irons 5-W. 1/2" long green dot. Exactly what I am fitted for. The only down side is they are regular flex which if I was honest with myself is what I should have because I don't swing hard. I could swing a lot harder than I do but then I loose control. So I jut slow it down. But enough of this blah blah blah. They are $230 . Tell me that I will find them at this price again and it really isn't as good of a price as I am thinking. Money is a little tight now so I will have to pass for now.

I just looked at G10s today at Austad's and they were going for $499. If that set's selling for $230 I have to ask what the catch is.

They are used but look like new. It is a short set with only 6 clubs. They got them on trade for what I don't know.

They don't want to wait for another person who needs 1/2" long and green dot with regular flex shafts. Oh wait it's a short set, nevermind.

It ain't bragging if you can do it.

The "short set" part doesn't worry me too much because most Ping iron sets these days are either 6 or 7 irons (4-PW or 5-PW). Green dot, on the other hand, is another story. If that color code is too upright for you then it's not a bargain even at $230.

Does that make you feel better?

No because I am a green dot. Thanks though. Come on guys tell me "Oh in a few months they will be in the low 2's anyway" or "I have seen them at that price anyway here and there". Please!!!

I don't think it'll make him feel any better... he said that is exactly what he is fitted for.

Pretty good deal. But with some ebay scouting you may be able to find them around the same price again.

Given your username, I'll play along. "Oh in a few months they will be in the low 2's anyway, and I have seen them at that price anyway online".

Hope that helps. ;)

It is a good deal, but I don't think it is great since it is a short set. That really hurts the value, take a look at the pga value guide and you will see what i mean.

Sorry, missed that part of your post.

G2s and occasionally, G5 sets are presently selling in the $200 range on Ebay. I bought a set of G2s earlier this year (3-SW) for $160 and I thought that was a great deal. G10s are a little higher right now but I think that will change when Ping discontinues them...whenever that is.

I was under the impression that the PGA value guide was more to see what the trade-in value would be. That's the way a few of the local stores here use the info. Sort of like the Kelly Blue Book for golf clubs...

This is true, but at the same time it gives you an idea of what the difference would be between sets with different numbers of clubs. Also, if you click on the re-sale value instead of trade-in you will find that this falls in line with what clubs bring on ebay (often the cheapest place to buy clubs, not always, but often).

I don't see it as such a good deal. Six clubs at $230. That's $30.33 per club. I'd pass.

Shoot the G15s will be down to that price in a year. then the k's the year after that and so on and so on. Eventually you're going to have to man up and buy em IF you need em.

    • Day 1 (19 Jan 26) - after a week lay-off due to travels, felt great to get in some drills in the backyard today.  Started with lead arm only short pitches focused on squared face and light divot post ball.  Haven’t done this in a while and it showed, with some skulls and slices.  Settled into easy flighted balls - wrapped up with standard two handed swings.  Good restart to the daily drills.
