After hitting the Sasquatch Tour on the launch monitor, i went ahead and ordered one (9.5*, Aldila NV65 Stiff). since then, at an outdoor range, i demoed a regular Sasquatch with stock Diamana Stiff shaft. much to my dismay, it was hitting significantly shorter than my current Ping G2 (10*, stock TFC100D). the ball just wouldn't get up in the air.

what can possibly explain this? anyone experience this? i did not hit the sasquatch tour at the range or on a course before purchasing...can someone allay my fears, or has anyone else thought that the sasquatch isn't a particularly long club?

thanks.

I dont fully understand, the SQ that you tested on the launch monitor how were you hitting that?? Now your saying that the SQ reg non-tour head you werent hitting as far as the SQ tour or your Ping driver??

Young04 I can assure you that the driver itself (Sasquatch Tour) is not short. I do find that loft for loft it does produce a lower ball flight than other drivers I've used (notably an r7 425). Like aquacooled I'm not sure I understand which driver you were hitting at the outdoor range (SQ Tour or SQ Max) if it was the Max, I never had much luck with it either... and if you have a high swing speed the stock shaft is a bit on the light and whippy side especially if you also have a quick tempo.

The launch monitor will have given you a good idea of what to expect, if you are talking about the Tour vs. Max then don't worry about it - they are very different clubs. In the future, I'd take your current driver (G2) with you and hit it a few times before trying new drivers on a monitor. It will give you a baseline to compare against.

I have the SQ Tour 9.5 with the real Diamana 83G Stiff and I have lost distance with this club... I did gain accruacy but lost 10-20 yards... I am now looking for a new driver because of this. I am looking at the FT 3 tour, Cobra XX, and the G5. The Cobra XX seems to fit the best though for me, but it is SOOOOOOOOOO ugly!

well maybe you need a different shaft, because Im sorry to tell you this but switching from one brand to another will not give you 20 yards.. that is a shaft issue, and being 83 grams that might be to heavy for your tempo.. you would be better off getting a new shaft for your driver instead you want to buy a whole new one?? the SQ has the latest tech and its just as good as any other brand.. if you told me that you dont like the sound or the head at address then that would be one thing but you lost 20 yards switching from one brand to another??????????? Sorry I have a hard time with that one.. change the shaft save some money and let go of the ego.....

83 grams will slow your swing speed down and it will make your driver feel more like an iron.

FYI, The Diamana 83 (blue) is only 78 grams. I think that it’s also commonly mistaken for the shaft that Tiger used for a while, I think that he was sporting the Diamana 103.

How strange - I'm having exactly the opposute results: my gamer is a

Sasquatch Sumo 460 , 64g stock-shaft/stiff, 9.5 and I tested it against a Titleist 907 D2 , VS Proto 76g shaft/stiff, 9.5. and I can equal the distance I usually hit with the Nike.....

This is exactly the reason why people suggest you get properly fitted. You were using two different shafts. As it was explained to me, all shaft flexes are not equal. Some "stiffs" are stiffer than others, etc. Additionally, they all have different torques, kickpoints, etc.

Also, were you hitting the same exact ball? This will play a role in distance, too. When testing different drivers, you need to be consistent, across the board. Same shafts, same balls and have someone who is a pro give you the important info like Ball speed, spin rate.

You are spending good money for these items. Its best that you get the best information.

    • This is an awesome breakdown. most of the bigger tournaments usually have one wave with the advantage, Thank you for the breakdown. If it is soft then it will be a lower final score
    • Over the past 15 years, the winning score has ranged from -10 to -20. Mostly around -13.  Here is Thursday and Friday weather. Saturday and Sunday weather. I think the course will play soft. Plenty of sky cover, lots of rain on Thursday. Fairways and greens will probably stay soft throughout the week.  In terms of tee times, I think Thursday morning and Friday afternoon have the biggest advantage. I bolded the big group of each set.  Most beneficial with the weather Round 1: No. 1 tee, Round 2: No. 10 tee 7:40 a.m., 12:30 p.m.: Mark Hubbard, Thorbjørn Olesen, Mac Meissner 7:52 a.m., 12:42 p.m.: Bud Cauley, Vince Whaley, Chandler Phillips 8:04 a.m., 12:54 p.m.: Emiliano Grillo, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Max Greyserman 8:16 a.m., 1:06 p.m.: Kevin Yu, Cam Davis, Gary Woodland 8:28 a.m., 1:18 p.m.: Ricky Castillo, Ryan Gerard, Patrick Cantlay 8:40 a.m., 1:30 p.m.: Adam Schenk, Garrick Higgo, Matt McCarty 8:52 a.m., 1:42 p.m.: Brian Harman, Maverick McNealy, Davis Riley 9:04 a.m., 1:54 p.m.: Sami Valimaki, Lucas Glover, Matt Fitzpatrick 9:16 a.m., 2:06 p.m.: Michael Brennan, Harris English, J.T. • We have a very difficult but mostly showy course this week. Lets see what they got. This course offers so many chances to get into trouble it is really a mental minefield. I am excited to see who can handle it and who cant. Last year we got a foreshadowing of JJ and Rory, I am excited for this year Who do people have winning? what will the winning score be? I am thinking 12 or 13 under
