Ok so, before I picked up a used set of irons about 5 years ago, I used to use a sandwedge around the green for all my shots. I became rather ok with it. About the only part of the game I did ok with.

With my new set, it went only to pw. So I picked up a Nike Slingshot OSS sandwedge. I don't know the stats on it, but the sole is SUPER WIDE and the bounce seems pretty high.

I either line drive the thing, or loft it so high and about 1/2 to the hole. I have never been able to use this club. A golf range owner who also does instruction , told me the club was made for beginners to at least get ahold of the ball. I'm a high handicap and can't play it to save my life.

So my question is, are wedge blades a better approach, something with a 1" sole or less? what about bounce?

Not sure where to go to even attempt to fix this issue. Oh and did I mention, the club is SUPER heavy too. Feels like a rock tied to a pole.

Any suggestions? Has anyone had any experience with the heads from GolfWorks? http://www.golfworks.com/product.asp...155_A_cn_E_667

My current PW is a 46* and just too strong to put it on the green and keep it there up close. The only time I can work this NIKE club is when I am in the deep rough about 20 - 30 yards away if that helps understand why I am so bad with this club. Everything else in my game has improved VERY slightly..

But now, ever since having more and more problems with this sandwedge, I am not having some problems hitting my pw and 9 iron! It's like it's rubbing off on those clubs. I'm so stressed grabbing the clubs now. I'm even started to shank the PW shots ..>AND IM NOT HITTING THE HOSEL!? HOW am I hitting it so far off? Is it the weight difference and I'm not getting it around?

oh help! lol

Thanks!

this one isn't identical.

He's asking about Game Improvement Wedges. I think your trying to scoop under the ball with that wedge, that's why your thinning it and then getting underneath it. I don't think it's the clubs fault. Try a bladed SW if you want to, but i think it'll make things worse.

I agree with James. Focus on technique first. I recommend Phil Michelson's Secrets of the Short Game or Stan Utley's, The Art of the Short Game. You should be able to get any wedge to work for you with proper technique.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
