I just bought a Raylor 22* from TGW for $89! Every review I ever read said it was a great club, now they have crashed on price. What should I suspect/expect?

I heard they're meant to be great from the rough but only ok from the fairway because of the sole.

Try it out and post your results

Pull the trigger!!! I have both the 19* and the 22*. I used to own 4 callaway hybrids and sold them all and bought both Raylor's because of the reviews I read. Today was my first day out with them. Let me just say Im in love. I haven't had a chance to play from the high grass with them yet (what they are supposed to be excellent at) but I did have 2 tee shots and 3 fairway shots with them and they are amazing. They sound awesome and VERY easy to hit.

Trying to figure out which one to buy. I have a Wilson 5 wood that is 20.5* then the next club down I use is my 4i which I don't hit particularly well.

You'd get the 22° since the 19° would most likely overlap with your Wilson 5 wood.

Golf pro said you have to practice with it to get feel for different shots. He says some slight sidehills can produce bad hook if you don't adjust, given the clubhead balances on ridge of v-shaped sole.

I played a round yesterday and got to hit the club several times. Tremendous ball flight each time; very pleased so far. I bought mine when there was a $10 coupon to go with the $99 price.

I have this Nike dymo2 4 wood that has a similar V shape, and that it what makes me hate that club so much. Does this design work better with a hybrid? Or would I find myself digging and chunking shots with this thing?

Posted
I honestly don't see how the sole shape could cause you to dig and chunk shots. You'd have to be hitting behind the ball for that to happen, which is a problem in and of itself. If you're doing that, the flatter sole shape of other fairways and hybrids is actually acting as a crutch. The sole on the Raylor should be fine to hit in any lie, fairway, rough, etc. The fact is, the club corrects for toe up and toe down shots automatically. The tight lies fairway woods I use have somewhat of a similar shape to them.
