Hi, I have mp 68's and have TT DGS300 in them and would like to move over to a more stiff shaft. I know a lot of threads have been started about this but there are many conflicting answers. I know the x100 is lower trajectory vs the others and have more spin but thats the only definitive answer I've found. Anyone feel like chiming in on each shaft's characteristics for me?

Trajectory
Launch
Spin
Feel (very conflicting viewpoints)
Distance
Dispersion

Thanks.

Hi,
I oreded my MP68's with the KBS Tour shaft in them. I like the feel of them ALOT but the ball flight is a little higher then expected. I have some PS X100 shafts in my old irons, I think im going to get put in them to try out. But all very good shaft, KBS tour feels a little nicer then they X100, but the X100 has a lower ball flight.

When I went for a fitting I hit them with a PX 7.0 in them, felt great, but numbers were a little better with the X100's and the KBS tour. I was not swinging it that great on the day of the fitting though witch might have had somthing to do with it.

How were the KBS on spin? More or less than the x100? I was hoping for something that promoted a little more spin. Even though I have a relatively steep angle of attack the greens at the course I play are impossible to get a good check. Anywhere else and I can get the ball to one or two hop and check back about a yard.

Can't really comment on the KBS but I'll throw my $0.02 about the PX and X100's. Currently I have 3 sets of irons all with 3 different shafts (intentionally).

J33B w/X100
J33B w/Rifle 6.5
J36 combo w/PX (flighted) 6.5

Readers Digest version is the Rifle 6.5's gave me the optimum flight, spin, and control. The X100's gave me a much lower ball flight but I gained a few yards. The PX 6.5's were the worst fit for me as I struggled with feel and ball striking consistency.

I have the kbs shafts on my 68's, love them. I have the xstiff and I've never hit my irons better. They took a few rounds to get used to,but at the fitting there was no question the dispersion was best. Medium launch and enough spin to stop the ball with a long iron from the fairway. Plenty of spin and easy to control with the scoring irons. I vote KBS, you have to be a bit deliberate but man are they accurate and true.

I had the 67's and recently old 33's and both with Rifle 7.0's . The trajectory is slighty higher than both shafts (stated above) and spin heaps more imo

    • Day 297 6-28 Got some swings in early this morning, busy day. Worked on low point control, skills work.
    • Day 2: played 18. Driving was decent to good. Approach play was meh. Short game meh, and putting solid. Added up to an 81. Needed more tap in pars and more birdie chances.
    • Day 8 (28 Jun 26) - Worked with face position at address and overall setup - open/neutral/closed - and setting up for resulting shot shapes - using 8i and hard foam balls.  It was abbreviated as the thunder began to rumble. Got in about 20 swings before calling it.
    • Tale of two swings.  Swing 1: Slightly outside takeaway (hands move outside of target line) only to allow trail elbow over collapsing at P4. Doesn't take much to overdo it for the trail elbow collapse to only further exaggerate. That's death. Swing 2: Hands stay slight in at takeaway for a much better trail elbow condition at P4. This is a hard sell from an instinct perspective. More focus on un-weighting and re-weighting of lead foot to unlock a bit more mobility of hips and torso. A major flaw that creeps up often is me swinging flat footed and becoming overly armsy-collapsy as a result. Got reminded of this the hard way during my 2nd round match for club net championship. Was cruising along 2up until I made the turn. Then lost the swing for next five holes. Andy was playing good enough to capitalize. By the time I regained my swing on 16th, it was too late. Even Andy was like "That was a gift". Obviously that stings because have played well enough lately. Should have closed him out of the game comfortably with a few holes to spare. Shoulda woulda coulda. Tough lesson. Damn. P.S. I know the swings look very similar but trust me there is a difference.
