I couldn't make hide nor hair of this discussion-what little I did glean lead me to this: lose the 60* wedge. 14 clubs, you're set, you don't need the 60* (no matter how many 25 'cappers here tell you it's their favorite or most reliable club). Take it only to the the range or practice green-in your actual bag use a 56* or 58* SW and be done with it.

I read it both ways and its actually the decision I've been personally debating with dropping the 60*. Im not sure why people say a higher handicap should drop it. I hit my fair share of crap shots with it but I just chalked that up to my skill level. Im just curious to your opinion why you recommend dropping it? Also Ive read that people will use a 54-58 set up to avoid using a 60. Is there that much of a difference between a 58 and a 60?

I've struggled with the same question. Alot of comments on the forum say 60* is ridiculous and noone should go higher than 58*....but surely there isn't that much difference.

I want to get a couple of Vokey's...but hate the way the 58* look with the number on the toe. Shallow I know, but I subscribe to the "you can't hit what you don't like" theory.

A) You need to hit alot of different clubs.
B) Whatever works for you.
C) It's the indian, not the arrow.
D) A 5 wood, 19* hybrid or a lob wedge.

there is no reason to fear a 60* wedge. Its no different than learning to hit the other clubs in your bag. I think that becoming able to hit a 60 opens up a lot of different short game shot opportunities. I couldn't hit mine for crap for the first season I had it...1 out of 10 swings would be decent..the rest were skulls and chunks and shanks and whatever else. Just gotta stick with it and continue to trust that it will come to you.

My philosophy on golf "We're not doing rocket science, here."

    • Are there going to be episodes outside teaching and lessons or is it the heart of the podcast?  Me personally, as a self-tough player, don't find this segments appealing to hear. I do love the idea of short episodes straight to the point.
    • Not sure I'm picturing it correctly. Was the path parallel to or perpendicular to the line of play? How were the bushes orientated?
    • I do agree with this, its pretty much impossible to make a definitive ruling based only on a typed description.  In addition to the factors listed, it would also depend on the intended line of play, whether it was more perpendicular to the path (interference more likely), or more parallel (less likely).  I based my initial response on the OPs claim that there was indeed interference.  But based on his description, my best guess is that his relief area would have been into the bushes.
    • Good info - thanks. Didn’t know that about club length. My irons are 1.5 over and I assumed my woods should be too.
    • $50…. Maybe go to a local Play it Again Sports store and see what you can pick up.  Check online at 2nd Swing.  You can choose drivers and sort by price.  I saw a 2013 Callaway x hot driver prices range on there from $48 to $169 depending on condition. As far as your height in relation to club length.  Your irons should be longer than standard but your driver and 3 wood should not be.  Just buying off the rack should be fine
