Brad Schweigert, design manager for Ping, says the MOI of a 7-iron from the S56 line, which is for better players, is 2,400 grams-centimeters squared (g-cm2). A 7-iron from the super game-improvement K15 line has an MOI of 3,000 g-cm². What does this mean? "For a half-inch miss from center, you'd avoid losing about two to three miles per hour of ball speed with the higher MOI iron," Schweigert says. "That translates to probably five yards of distance."

Interesting piece of information, I like the physics behind golf, especially in the golf clubs.

Note, a study was done showing that the impact between handicaps were consistant between blades and forged irons. The key to this is sweet spot, which comes down to face size. But there is the limit to whats acceptable.

The new thing now is with vibration and sound. Alot of club designers believe that majority of feel comes from sound. If there is a clunk than you will think it has less feel than if its has that soft sound. Also how the club interacts with the ground as well. If it can cut through the ground better you get a better feel than if it digs in and feels heavy.

So alot of things that can be worked with to develop feel and maximize forgiveness.

Though i do say, when i stripped a Callaway prototype, it was amazing ;)
