I am planning on getting 2 new vokey wedges for my bag next year. I was thinking of getting a 52 and a 58. I figured the 52 would be my 100 yard and bunker club and the 58 would be for around the greens and when I need that little bit of extra height. I currently have a 50, 56, and 60. I rarely use all 3 in a round. However I was thinking that if I were just to buy a new 50 and 56 that i could always throw my current 60 in the bag if i needed to. I change my mind daily on what I should do so I was hoping you guys could help and give some of your opinions or tell what you would do.

What are your needs? Are there certain types of shots you want to hit? From what yardages?

I played 3 wedges on Friday with my Clevelands (TA1 9 iron, Mizuno Pro 50.5, 56, 60) and two wedges today with my old Titleists (9 iron, Vokey 52, Cleveland 588 57*). There were no shots I couldn't make with either setup. All the yardages were covered, I had a couple wedges for bunker shots (greenside and 50 yards) and I could hit a knockdown or a flop shot with each set. There is no perfect set of lofts - just stuff that gets the job done. Experiment with the ones you already have and see what you need, then you'll know what you're looking for, regardless of loft or brand name.

When looking at wedges, be sure to check the shaft length of your old, and possible new wedges.

In the Vokey line, getting wedges at 50*, 54* and 58* would only give you 1/4 inch difference in shaft length. For numbered irons, it's usually 1/2 inch increments. So, you might end up with less distance between clubs than you think.

In the X-Forged, the shaft length difference from 50* to 56* is only 1/8 inch (assuming stock factory shaft length).

Just something to be aware of. A thread got into this a couple of weeks ago.
